Listening to The First Spring, The Season of Swallows Flying... is so different in the New Year's Eve concert

The New Year Concert 2025 took place at the Hoan Kiem Theater (Hanoi) on the evening of February 5, directed by the Department of Party and Political Affairs ( Ministry of Public Security ), organized by the Hoan Kiem Theater in coordination with the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra. The program featured the participation of People's Artist Bui Cong Duy (violin), Meritorious Artist Khanh Ngoc; singers Pham Thu Ha, My Linh, Dao To Loan, Truong Linh; Vietnam Symphony Orchestra, People's Public Security Music and Dance Theater, Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theater, under the command of conductor Honna Tetsuji. Meritorious Artist Kim Xuan Hieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra, said "the program is like a New Year greeting, a wish for peace and happiness to music lovers". Musician Pham Tuyen wrote "The Party gave us a whole spring of 1960 when the country had not yet reunited with majestic melodies that were no less joyful and filled with hope. This is also one of the songs about spring that goes with the years, heard over and over again every time Tet comes and spring comes. More than 60 years later, the song resounds at the Hoan Kiem Theater auditorium with a different performance by singer Pham Khanh Ngoc and the choir in the program.

Following that is Van Cao's First Spring, a song written in 1976, one year after the country's reunification.

"The normal season, the season of joy, has now come/ The dream spring is coming first/ With smoke drifting over the river, the rooster is crowing at noon by the river/ A sunny noon for many souls".

The choir recreated the passionate, joyful atmosphere of the first peaceful spring across the country through a new arrangement and transcription for the classical music space.

Two spring pieces opened the New Year's concert, recounting the journey of the country and spring associated with music .

Dao To Loan impressed with her high soprano voice and wide range when performing the two songs A Little Spring and Spring Chorus.

Singers My Linh and Pham Thu Ha brought a semi-classical touch with the songs Listening to Spring Return, Season of Swallows Flying, Hanoi 12 Seasons of Flowers, and Dakrong River Spring Returns. Pham Khanh Ngoc sang Spring Love Song.

Singer Truong Linh and violinist Bui Cong Duy reunited with the audience with Hanoi Street. The singer's high and low voices, sometimes high, sometimes low, took the audience through many different emotions.

Meanwhile, Bui Cong Duy's violin resonates, evoking a heroic song when thinking about Hanoi in the past.

With violin in hand, People's Artist Bui Cong Duy performed a nostalgic Caprice Viennois . This is Fritz Kreisler's favorite piece among the pieces praising his homeland.
