Phu Thuong opened on the afternoon of February 5 (January 8) at Phu Gia communal house, Phu Thuong ward, Tay Ho district, Hanoi .

of the famous Phu Thuong sticky rice craft village in Hanoi, the craft village was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2024.

The festival reflects the people's aspirations for a prosperous and abundant life, as well as gratitude to the fertile land that gave birth to a craft village that feeds the villagers along the Red River.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuong - Chairman of Phu Thuong Ward People's Committee - delivered the opening speech expressing the pride of Phu Thuong people in the unique profession of the ancient village.

According to Mr. Tuong, for centuries now, every late afternoon or early morning, just arriving at the beginning of Ga village (Ke Ga, also known as Phu Gia village, located on the south bank of the Red River, now in Phu Thuong ward, Tay Ho district, Hanoi), the aroma of sticky rice spreads throughout the village.

Thanks to the cool water of the Nhi Ha River and the fertile ancient alluvium, Phu Thuong used to have fertile rice fields. From these fertile fields, the people of Phu Thuong grew two types of premium rice: golden flower sticky rice and sticky rice with mulberry glue for making sticky rice.

Through a process of hard work and creativity, up to now, the people of Ga village in particular and the people of Phu Thuong ward in general have continued to preserve and develop the profession.

Stemming from passion and love for the profession, the artisans are very meticulous from the stage of choosing ingredients to the stage of processing to create the finished product Phu Thuong sticky rice, shiny, round, delicious, imbued with the culinary culture of elegant Hanoi people .

Phu Thuong sticky rice festival

The sticky rice cooking competition between the ward branches attracted many viewers.

Sticky rice is not cooked at the festival but is cooked at home by artisans who wake up early in the morning.

Coming here, visitors can enjoy delicious sticky rice of all kinds and admire the sticky rice decorated in many colors and shapes.

There are trays of sticky rice, trays of sticky rice that are elaborately decorated like a picturesque landscape painting, such as the sticky rice tray "painting" the scene of a bustling village, houses, and lotus pond of Phu Gia village, now in Phu Thuong ward.
