Eating breakfast early helps increase longevity

A new study published in the scientific journal Communications Medicine shows that breakfast time clearly affects health and longevity, especially in the elderly.

A research team led by Dr. Hassan Dashti, a nutritionist at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed nearly 3,000 people for 22 years.

Participants, aged 42 to 94, were divided into two main groups: one group ate breakfast at 8am and one group ate at 9am.

The analysis results showed that the group that ate breakfast early had a higher life expectancy than the other group. Specifically, eating breakfast every hour late increased the risk of death by 11%. At the same time, as people age, they tend to eat breakfast later, on average, each decade, the meal time is delayed by about 8 minutes.

Experts explain that eating breakfast early helps synchronize the internal biological clock, thereby supporting more effective metabolism, reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and metabolic disorders.

Eating breakfast on time also helps maintain stable blood sugar levels, increases concentration and improves work performance during the day.

Drinking tea improperly can easily damage the kidneys.

The habit of drinking tea in the morning or after meals is popular with many people.

However, nutritionist Lisa Andrews from Sound Bites Nutrition Center warns that while iced tea is good, it should not be abused or used incorrectly.

Green tea and black tea both contain polyphenols and antioxidants that are beneficial for the heart, help improve memory and boost immunity.

However, drinking strong tea, drinking it on an empty stomach or right after a full meal can be harmful to the kidneys. The reason is that black tea contains a lot of oxalic acid, which when accumulated in excess can form stones and affect the kidney's ability to filter blood.

A study published in the journal Nutrients found that consuming large amounts of strong tea every day increases the risk of kidney damage, especially in people with a history of urinary tract disease.

To ensure safety, users should drink diluted tea, avoid drinking on an empty stomach and do not completely replace filtered water during the day with tea.

Plant milk effectively supports weight loss

Besides breakfast time and how to drink tea, choosing milk in the morning is also a factor that helps improve health, especially for those who want to control their weight.

Plant milks such as soy, almond or oat milk are currently recommended by experts to be used instead of cow's milk.

Soy milk provides a rich source of protein that helps maintain muscle, creates a feeling of fullness and reduces cravings. In addition, research in the journal BMC Medicine shows that soy milk helps lower bad cholesterol, reduce blood pressure and limit inflammation.

Unsweetened almond milk is very low in calories but still rich in vitamin E and heart-healthy fats.

Meanwhile, oat milk contains a lot of soluble fiber that helps slow down digestion and reduce calorie absorption. This type of milk also helps improve digestion, lower cholesterol and maintain a healthy weight.

Replacing a glass of cow's milk with plant-based milk in the morning not only helps reduce calorie intake but also creates a gentle start for the body, especially during the process of losing weight or adjusting the diet.
