The seminar was organized by the Vietnam Musicians Association, the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, the Institute for Research on Preservation and Development of Ethnic Culture, the Vietnam Cheo Theatre... to celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth.
People's Artist Hoang Kieu (1925-2005), whose real name is Ta Khac Ke, was born in Hung Yen and was born in Hanoi. He was an excellent manager, educator, musician, scriptwriter and scientific researcher.

With more than half a century of dedication to traditional theater, over 30 years of teaching, his activities and contributions to the Cheo stage are reflected in many aspects, from composing music to writing scripts, directing, scientific research and training Cheo artists. Among them, the most prominent field is his dedication to Cheo music, scientific research on Cheo and training artists for the modern Cheo stage.
He was awarded the State Prize for Literature and Arts and many noble medals of the Party and State.

Dr. Pham Tri Thanh, Chairman of the Council of Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema, recalled that in 1980, Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema was established, People's Artist Hoang Kieu was invited to hold the position of Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Traditional Drama.
"From those first steps until today, the image of a beloved teacher with a deep concern for a traditional national art and national music has always been the guiding principle for the work of future generations of artists" - Dr. Pham Tri Thanh expressed.
Music theorist Nguyen Quang Long emphasized the role of People's Artist Hoang Kieu as a pioneer, laying the foundation, contributing to shaping the musical language for modern Cheo in both thinking and method. The Cheo play "Suy Van" for which he was the music author is an artistic milestone, where he brought Cheo to the peak of musical expression.

Director - PhD - People's Artist Thanh Ngoan, Director of the Center for Preservation of Traditional Vietnamese Performing Arts, affirmed that People's Artist - Artist Hoang Kieu's contribution to the Cheo stage is the pinnacle. He is one of the people who laid the foundation for an exemplary and creative way of writing stage music while still maintaining traditional identity.
People's Artist Thanh Ngoan said that when she was young, when she first entered the Vietnam Cheo Theatre, she first encountered the play "Suy Van" - she mistakenly thought it was an ancient Cheo play. According to her, the use of music by People's Artist Hoang Kieu here reached a level of smoothness and harmony down to every detail, making the audience and performers feel like they were living in an authentic traditional Cheo space.
"His music in this play is not simply a supporting part, but has become a part of the soul of the play - contributing to the brilliant success of "Suy Van" and affirming his creative talent at its peak. Later, when I had the opportunity to do more research, I realized that "Suy Van" is the crystallization of a top artistic team at that time - a real revolution in the art of Cheo" - People's Artist Thanh Ngoan emphasized.
People's Artist Thuy Ngan, former actress of the Vietnam Cheo Theatre, also recalled the memories of 40 years of being attached to the "role of a lifetime" - Suy Van. For her, the music of the play "Suy Van" is so good that every time she performs, just hearing the music as soon as it plays gives her goosebumps, she knows the nuances of the music associated with each movement.
Director - PhD - People's Artist Le Tuan Cuong assessed the background music of the play "Suy Van" composed by People's Artist Hoang Kieu as a breakthrough, a phenomenon of 20th-century Cheo music. Later, many music composers also relied on it to write Cheo plays with historical, folk, and modern themes with background music, harmony, arrangement, backing vocals, raising and lowering the pitch, enriching the treasure trove of Vietnamese folk music. It can be affirmed that People's Artist - People's Artist Hoang Kieu composed music for an excellent play "Suy Van", affirming the brand of the Vietnam Cheo Theater with colleagues nationwide.
