The main reason for the decrease in cattle prices is that the Chinese market has not imported nearly enough cattle for a long time. Meanwhile, recently, a large amount of cattle from Thailand has flooded into the Vietnamese market, at lower prices, making the consumption of cattle in the country and in the province even more difficult.

Currently, the total herd of buffaloes and cows in Thanh Hoa province is only over 417 thousand, a decrease of more than 20 thousand compared to the same period in 2022.

Thanh Hoa's agricultural sector recommends that buffalo and cattle breeders continue to monitor the market to have appropriate breeding plans, not to reduce herds massively, causing supply disruptions. At the same time, prevent diseases; take advantage of agricultural by-products as feed for buffalo and cattle to reduce costs. In the long term, farm owners and buffalo and cattle breeders need to organize production in chains, link product consumption with processing to stabilize output, towards sustainable livestock development.
