TPO – This afternoon (August 30), thousands of people left Hanoi to return to their hometowns to begin the 4-day holiday. All gateway roads to the capital were packed with vehicles.

This year's National Day holiday on September 2nd lasts 4 days, so many people choose to return to their hometowns instead of staying in the capital. This afternoon (August 30th), as soon as work ends (4pm to 5pm), the flow of vehicles on the streets increases, causing some roads such as Giai Phong, Ngoc Hoi, National Highway 1A, Cau Giay, Pham Hung, Khuat Duy Tien, Nguyen Trai, Nguyen Xien, Giai Phong... to be jammed with vehicles.

According to Tien Phong reporters, at 6am on August 30, in the Nguyen Xien street area, traffic congestion occurred in the lanes leaving Hanoi both below and above.

The authorities were present to reduce traffic congestion.

Many families in the provinces of Ha Nam, Thai Binh , Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh… choose to travel by motorbike to return to their hometown.

“I just finished work so I brought my suitcase back to my hometown. I know there will be traffic jam but I have no choice. I’ll go back as soon as I can. I only have a few days off so I’ll take advantage of it,” said Viet Huy (from Hung Yen ).

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (28 years old, from Hai Phong) is worried about taking her children home on this trip. “I am picking up my two children from school, tonight my family will go home by motorbike, with this traffic jam I am worried”, Ms. Lan said.

At 5:00 p.m., in Giai Phong street area, through Giap Bat bus station towards Nuoc Ngam, traffic density increased.

Giai Phong Street is crowded with vehicles, cars and motorbikes jostling to move.

Ngoc Hoi Street (in front of Nuoc Ngam Bus Station gate) is crowded with vehicles, traffic jam lasting about 2km.

Slight traffic congestion occurred on Do Muoi Street towards Nuoc Ngam Bus Station.
