Notably, Nguyen Thi Huyen won the gold medal in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1 minute 0.08 seconds. This is the second gold medal for the girl from Nam Dinh , as Nguyen Thi Huyen previously won the gold medal in the 400m event with a time of 52.92 seconds. In addition, Nguyen Thi Huyen also won the silver medal in the 4x400m event with the Nam Dinh team.

Sharing with the media, the girl born in 1993 said that she will officially retire right after this tournament, ending 15 years of professional competition at the top level. Nguyen Thi Huyen is the first female athlete to achieve the achievement of winning 13 gold medals in athletics in the history of the SEA Games. In addition, she also won 10 gold medals at the National Championship and 3 gold medals at the Asian Championship.

"I also feel mixed feelings when Huyen retires. The achievements that Huyen has achieved are still high compared to other athletes. But every game has to end.

Huyen is also getting older, besides taking care of her family, she has to prepare for her new journey as a coach," Coach Vu Dinh Loi shared about Nguyen Thi Huyen's retirement.
