In the recent Shanghai station competition of the show "Sing! Asia 2025", Phuong My Chi continued to convincingly win the "duo" round with the mashup "Drunkenness" and "Luc Hai Vi Vuong" when combined with Kelou.

Emotionally Creative

The highlight of this performance is the smooth and harmonious combination of Vietnamese Cai Luong and Chinese opera. This cultural exchange is clearly demonstrated when Phuong My Chi sings "Luc Hai Vi Vuong" in Vietnamese and Kelou performs "Tuy Am" in Chinese.

Connecting two cultures, two languages and two different systems of expression into a complete performance is a long journey behind the stage. Producer DTAP said: "Before starting the arrangement, DTAP carefully studied the characteristics of each genre, from musical structure to performance style. The way each instrument is played is also studied to ensure that the spirit, technique and emotion inherent in each culture are preserved. This combination contributes to creating a harmonious, restrained but still profound whole."

DTAP's choice of Cai Luong - a traditional musical material to tell cultural stories on the international stage helped Phuong My Chi make a clear personal mark. For many Vietnamese audiences, this is a proud moment.

Recently, the double album "The Field of Heritage/Life on high" by musician Quoc Trung and "The Field of Heritage/City Life" by musician Xinh Xo were considered interesting highlights of the music market. According to musician Quoc Trung, his album evokes the cultural space and the beauty in the lives of people in the highlands. Meanwhile, musician Xinh Xo's album delves deeper into the inner life, reflecting the thoughts when people leave the highlands to live and work in the city.

In both albums, the musicians used musical instruments and sounds of the Northwest mountains and forests combined with modern music. Musician Quoc Trung's album has 4 songs with the participation of artisans Lau Thi Pang, Nong Thi Ngan, Hoang Thi Sui; including the gong sounds of the Muong people, the Mong flute sounds and Ha Leu singing of the Nung people...

In the current music market, the performance of traditional music of ethnic groups is attracting the attention of musicians. The project Viet Nam Love with 4 singers from 4 programs "Anh trai say hi", "Anh trai vu ngan cong gai", "Chi dep dap gio" and "Em xinh say hi" is attracting audiences. It can be said that the trend of implementing music projects with strong cultural identity is blooming, becoming the main color of the Vietnamese music market.

Artist Ngo Hong Quang's album "Dawn" with 8 songs has also made an impression recently. In the album, he combines melodies from the H'Mong people's mouth harp with the Tinh, Paranung, Saranai, bamboo flute, Zither... The calculated blend helps "Dawn" both carry the sound of the Northwest mountains and forests and the distinct characteristics of Cham music. With careful investment and production, this album resonates with domestic experts and a segment of international audiences.

Many large-scale projects and works

Musician Vo Thien Thanh has been "hiding" for 10 years waiting for the day the project "Golden Dragon concert" will be released convincingly.

Vo Thien Thanh expressed his desire to create a separate genre (temporarily called World Music Viet) with folk music materials from the three regions of North, Central and South on a contemporary harmony. Typical instruments of traditional Vietnamese music such as tranh, flute, bau, nguyet… along with the voices, melodies, and singing of traditional singers will be the main colors of the project.

Like many regular performing arts programs in the world , the "Golden Dragon" show will be held annually as a cultural event. The highlight of the project is the "Golden Dragon Concert" program, built with a symphony orchestra combined with a pop band and Vietnamese traditional instruments, creating a unique folk culture brand of Ho Chi Minh City. After many years of preparation, the project is being implemented to soon be introduced to the audience at the end of this year.

After more than 20 years of nurturing ideas and composing, musician Hoai An released "Vietnamese Soul". This album has 15 songs with 3 main themes: National heroes ("The sound of the drums of Me Linh", "The flag of reeds", "The Tran Dynasty Saint", "The Ly Dynasty famous general", "The Emperor in cloth"); legends - history ("The story of Co Loa citadel", "The spirit of Dong A", "The heroic spirit of Thang Long", "Bach Dang Giang"...) and fairy tales ("Son Tinh - Thuy Tinh", "Thach Sanh", "Truong Chi - My Nuong", "Banh Chung - Banh Giay").

"I consider this as a musical work of my life. Through the album "Vietnamese Soul", I want to awaken the love of Vietnamese history and national pride in every Vietnamese person through familiar melodies and lyrics" - musician Hoai An confided.

According to insiders, with the above approach of musicians, folk culture has more or less permeated young audiences in a natural and convincing way. Each work has its own unique features and characteristics, but all contribute to preserving and promoting Vietnamese cultural identity, bringing Vietnamese music closer to the international audience.

Many Vietnamese music works with "millions of views" have succeeded from the traditional cultural pedestal. The creative combination of traditional cultural identity with new arrangements, harmonies and arrangements by young crews has created songs with catchy, modern melodies, imbued with national character.
