Many public schools in Dak Lak 'lower' admission scores for grade 10

TPO – Dak Lak has just “lowered” the admission scores for grade 10 for a series of public schools. Previously, the Department of Education and Training also “lowered” the admission scores of 2 schools, causing a situation of “submission and withdrawal, withdrawal and submission”.

The Department of Education and Training (DET) of Dak Lak province has just issued a notice of additional enrollment for grade 10 high school in the 2024-2025 school year, for 31 public schools. These are schools that enroll students by selection.

To recruit more students, the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province has "lowered" the admission scores of a series of schools. The admission scores of schools were mainly "lowered" from 1 to 2 points such as: Tran Dai Nghia High School (Buon Don district), lowered 2 points (from 31 to 29 points); Le Duan High School (Buon Ma Thuot city) also lowered 2 points, from 32 points to 30 points (added condition of average grade 9 semester subject score is 6.9 points in case of equal to total admission score).

In addition, there are also schools that had to lower their scores by 3-4 points, such as: Pham Van Dong High School (Krong Ana district), down 4 points (from 27 to 23 points); Nguyen Chi Thanh High School (Lak district), down from 28 to 25 points...

Parents withdrew their applications to submit to another school.

The Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province requires schools to notify students who have enough points to pass the supplementary admission to urgently complete admission procedures; those who do not pass the 10th grade of high school, the school will guide them to register to study the high school continuing education program at the provincial continuing education center, the local vocational education and continuing education center or study the high school continuing education program combined with vocational training at intermediate schools, vocational colleges...

This is the second time the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province has decided to "lower" the admission scores for grade 10 public schools. Previously, on July 19, the department "lowered" the admission scores of 2 schools in Buon Ma Thuot City. The "lowering" of admission scores was reported to be quite late, causing confusion when schools had enrolled students according to the plan and set targets. Hundreds of parents rushed to withdraw their applications from the schools they had submitted. Many parents ran back and forth, even putting pressure to withdraw their applications.

As Tien Phong reported, this is the first year Dak Lak province has recruited students for grade 10 through two forms of entrance exams and selection, but the plan was issued quite late (April 2024).

There are 12 public schools organizing entrance exams; of which 3 specialized schools have organized exams for many years, the remaining 9 high schools are organizing exams for the first time. As a result, 7/9 schools have a standard score of only 5-6 points for 3 exam subjects, but still cannot recruit enough students. The Department of Education and Training has requested and received permission from the People's Committee to recruit about 1,100 more students. The enrollment work of the Dak Lak Department of Education and Training shows passivity, slow response, and the more it is resolved, the more confusing it becomes.
