TPO - On International Labor Day, May 1, many freelance workers in Nghe An still quietly earn a living, keeping up with their work schedule as usual.
On the last day of the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the air was hot and humid, on the roads and streets of Vinh City (Nghe An), here and there were freelance workers "exposing" themselves to the 40 degree Celsius heat to work. Their pace of life was no different from normal days. Each person had a different situation and job, but they all had one thing in common: a difficult life. |
With sweat drenching his shirt, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan (born in 1975, residing in Hong Son ward, Vinh city) said that he has been working as a porter at Vinh market for more than 10 years. “People who work with manual labor like us don’t have days off, we just hope that we can have work every day. During the holidays, many people go on vacation with their families, I feel sorry for myself, especially for the disadvantaged children because their parents are in such difficult circumstances,” Mr. Tuan confided. |
Working hard to push the goods she just bought, Ms. Le Thi Hai (born in 1966) said that regardless of rain or shine, holidays, she always travels on her old cart to buy scrap. Working hard, she still earns about 4 million VND per month, so even on holidays she still works hard. |
“The job of collecting scrap metal requires me to travel all over the city. On good days I earn 200,000-300,000 VND, on bad days I earn just over 100,000 VND. Hopefully on holidays, many supermarkets, stores and families will clean their houses so I can buy more goods,” Ms. Hai shared. |
The weather is extremely hot, but workers still work hard to earn a living, hoping to sell a lot of goods to take care of their lives. |
Sitting on the side of the road waiting for customers, Mr. Nguyen Van Long (born in 1970, from Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An) said: "As a taxi driver, we don't have days off. We just hope that every day is full of customers. These days, people are on holiday, so the number of customers is less than usual." |
Hot weather, barber shop owners have to use umbrellas and cloth for cover. |
For freelancers, holidays are a distant dream. |
Whether it's a weekday or a holiday, freelance workers are still working hard at their jobs. |
