On the morning of July 20, the program Childhood by the Book Window took place at the branch of the Vietnam Women's Publishing House, Ho Chi Minh City.

The event is an opportunity for children and parents who love books to interact and talk about the picture books of Be Thong and the series When children are authors to better understand how young authors in Da Lat draw and write these books.

These publications are all developed and published by the Book Window Library and Publishing Project, and published by the Vietnamese Women's Publishing House.

The more we grow up in nature, the more our hearts flutter.

Little Pine (author: Thanh Tam, illustrator: Windy Truc Hoang) tells the story of Mr. Squirrel and Ms. Rain's journey to discover the wonders of pine trees through the guidance of a small "forest god" who appeared from a pine cone.

The end of the book also points out 10 interesting facts about pine trees such as: pine is a symbol of endurance and hope; pine resin is used to heal pine tree wounds...

Following the characters in the book, young readers will learn more about nature, love the green pine forests more and can find creative ideas to cherish the beauty of nature.

Ms. Thanh Tam said the idea of this book came from the poem "The Baby Calls Blue" to express the authors' concept of educating children:

"Once love is born / It is also the seed of separation / The baby will know / The first sobs / The older it gets in nature / The more its heart is moved / The baby will have to cry / When it sees a bird in pain / When it sees a tree being cut down / When it sees a squirrel losing its home...".

"When children grow up among trees, they will naturally develop a deep attachment and love for nature. If they lose a "tree friend" or "animal friend" that was once very close to them, they will inevitably be hurt, but "the green is still here / as long as we believe in them."

Our enduring educational philosophy is to choose to believe in children. Because only when they love nature can they feel pain. Pain turns into strength to get closer to nature. These pages will gradually instill love for nature in children through many different emotions," Ms. Tam shared.

Children all have rich imaginations.

The book series When Children Are Authors includes many works written and drawn by children from 8 to 14 years old, with content about nature, environment, friendship and family. Among them, the Mysterious Library was awarded the 2024 Cricket Aspiration Award.

The Mysterious Library was written by Sinh Hung (born in 2010) out of his sincere friendship with dog Lu, cat Luna and imaginary friends in literary works about the environment.

Or the book Brown Bear's Journey illustrated by Nha Uyen (born in 2016, the youngest member of the author group) with cute drawings about Brown Bear's journey of marriage and traveling; the touching friendship between Brown Bear and Gray Bear.

Nha Uyen innocently confided that when she drew, her mother Thanh Tam encouraged her a lot. Although her drawings certainly could not be as perfect as those of professional artists, her mother always encouraged her to develop her imagination, which gave her more motivation to draw.

Xuan Nhu Y, author of The Children in the Land of Fog, confided: "The works in When Children Are Authors are the work of us and the teachers (members of the Book Window project). The teachers told us that: all children are the same, they all deserve to be trusted, to be creative and to speak up.

We used to be kids who didn't have confidence in drawing, but because you always encouraged us that we could do it and recognized the results, we can stand here now.

I believe that if children know how to dream and have people to create those dreams with them, they will reap more beautiful results than we do now. Books are a place for us to connect with each other and create valuable emotions in life."
