Dear friends
At the Korean Entrepreneurs' Social Responsibility (CSR) Festival and the Sharing Hands Scholarship Award Ceremony 2023 co-organized by the Korean Embassy in Vietnam and the Korean Business Association in Vietnam (KOCHAM) on November 29, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang said that Korea is Vietnam's leading partner in investment, trade, tourism , labor cooperation...
"In addition to investment and business activities, Vietnam always appreciates the contributions of Korean enterprises in social activities such as building charity houses, helping poor children and people with disabilities, providing vocational training and scholarships to excellent students...
The presence of Korean enterprises in Vietnam and their responsible and humane gestures not only contribute to the country's economic development but also accompany and support the people, thereby contributing to continuing to foster the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries," Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang emphasized.
Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Choi Youngsam also noted that since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992, two-way trade turnover has increased 175 times and Korea has become the largest foreign investor in Vietnam.
In 2022, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and this year agreed on a specific Action Program to implement that relationship.
Ambassador Choi Youngsam observed that in the short period of 30 years, the two countries have become important and indispensable partners not only in the economic field but also in all fields, including culture and society. The two sides have pledged to make joint efforts to become each other's precious friends in the future.
"Such development of the bilateral relationship is thanks to the contribution of the business community. Thanks to the care and support of the Vietnamese Government, Korean enterprises have built a business foundation in many fields in many different localities. From there, they have the opportunity to contribute to Vietnamese society," the Korean Ambassador affirmed.

Actively participating in CSR activities in Vietnam
At this year's CSR Day and Sharing Scholarship Award Ceremony, 61 Korean enterprises awarded scholarships to 115 Vietnamese students, with a total value of 1.15 billion VND. Ambassador Choi Youngsam hopes that this will be the nourishment that helps each student's dream take root and grow, becoming big, beautiful green trees.
"There is a saying: If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. I hope that the Vietnamese Government will actively support CSR so that it will become a solid foundation for the country's goal of becoming a developed country by 2045," the Ambassador said.
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang, sustainable development, sustainable business, and corporate social responsibility play an important role and have become urgent requirements for each country. Poverty, climate change, development disparities, access to education, epidemics, etc. show that contributing to society is not only the government's duty but also a noble duty, an ethics and a compass for the sustainable development of businesses.
CSR Day and Sharing Scholarship Award Ceremony 2023 is an annual event organized by KOCHAM since 2015. The event contributed to enhancing the image of Korean businesses and the country by widely promoting CSR activities of Korean businesses investing in Vietnam, helping to connect excellent Vietnamese students with difficult circumstances to Korean companies. |
In the context of a rapidly changing and unpredictable world, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang said that the Vietnamese Government highly values and advocates further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with South Korea.
Vietnam has been making efforts to create an open and transparent investment environment, creating conditions for Korean enterprises to feel secure in operating, producing, trading and investing long-term in the country.
"On the basis of the excellent bilateral relationship, with great potential and room for cooperation, I hope that KOCHAM and Korean enterprises will continue to expand their investment scale in Vietnam, bringing jobs to the people and creating the best conditions for workers working in Korean enterprises.
At the same time, actively expand social responsibility activities to remote areas, which are the places with the most need in Vietnam," Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang expressed.
Sharing the same view, KOCHAM Chairman Hong Sun said that social responsibility activities of foreign enterprises in the host country are not only long-term business activities but also an important factor that directly affects the enhancement of the national image.
"Currently, CSR activities have become a business goal to pursue the interests of the entire regional society. Sustainable development and growth are keywords searched globally. This has proven that businesses cannot only look forward, but must always observe the surroundings to create sustainable value on the basis of sharing and dedication," said Mr. Hong Sun.
He expressed his hope that businesses will not only make contributions and social responsibility activities on special occasions, but it will become a regular activity and be carried out 365 days a year.
"In the future, KOCHAM, together with Korean enterprises investing in Vietnam, will continue to participate more actively in CSR activities in Vietnam, targeting disadvantaged groups in society, implementing Korea's inherent 'sharing' culture to strengthen bilateral relations and improve the business environment," said the Chairman of KOCHAM.
"For foreign invested enterprises, Vietnam is not only a business market, but also a land of enterprises. And that land of Vietnam must be continuously fertile for enterprises to be able to grow sustainably. That is the reason why Samsung continuously promotes social contribution activities in Vietnam. Samsung Chairman Lee Jae Yong once said that "sharing together and growing together is the way to become the world's number one." On that foundation, Samsung will strive to become the world's number one in Vietnam. Through CSR activities, we can share experiences and knowledge together to contribute to Vietnam and all of us to have a better life" - General Director of Samsung Vietnam Choi Joo Ho. |
