Lumps all over the body after fat-dissolving injections at the spa

Because of trust, Ms. T. agreed to use the service and was injected with unknown compounds into many areas of her body. However, after 2 weeks of injection, unusual pimples appeared at the injection site on the back of both arms and many areas of her body. When touched, it felt hard and uncomfortable, but the cosmetic facility explained that this was because the drug worked slowly and dissolved slowly.

After 2 months, the lumps and hard pimples increased, the inflammation spread. Many small pimples oozed pus, blood and were painful. Through examination, Dr. Pham Duy Linh determined: There were many inflammatory foci of various sizes, ranging from 1-2.5 cm, on both sides of the patient's biceps; on both cheeks, chin, and abdomen, there were many hard lumps, some of which showed abscesses, inflammation, redness, rupture, and pus discharge. Ultrasound results also showed hypoechoic foci, with a shell, surrounding infiltration, and fluid inside.

According to doctors, there are 3 reasons that can cause complications after injecting fat-dissolving drugs: Fat-dissolving drugs of unknown origin; Incorrect injection technique; Failure to ensure sterility in injection technique.

For regional fat-dissolving injection techniques, if the injection is too shallow on the skin surface, the drug can cause skin ulcers at the injection site. If the injection is too deep, the consequences will not only cause necrosis at the injection site but also spread to other areas of the body. In case after fat-dissolving injection, if there are signs of swelling, pus, etc., the patient needs to go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.

Doctor Pham Duy Linh warns that the cause of fat accumulation is due to an unreasonable diet and exercise regimen that has been going on for a long time. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the diet along with exercise to help reduce fat.
