Application of scientific and technical advances in production
Visiting the 500m2 lingzhi mushroom farm of Ms. Nguyen Thi Tu and Mr. Nguyen Van Dan's family in An Phong ward, it is easy to see that the application of high technology in mushroom cultivation is carried out quite synchronously.
The entire lighting system uses solar energy, combined with automatic remote control by smartphone. Thanks to that, electricity costs are reduced by up to 50%, mushroom productivity increases by about 30%, and the risk of pests and diseases is minimized.
Each crop, Mr. Dan's family harvests about 1 ton of dried lingzhi mushrooms, with a selling price of 1 million VND/kg, bringing in revenue of over 1 billion VND. After deducting expenses, net profit still reaches hundreds of millions of VND. This is a high income compared to traditional agricultural production on the same area.
According to Anh Dan, the mushroom spawn making stage is the most difficult, requiring precise techniques. Previously, it was done manually, so productivity was unstable. Now, with a system to monitor temperature and humidity, adjusted by phone, the mushrooms grow evenly, and disease infection is significantly reduced. Thanks to technology, he saves labor and can confidently expand production.
Not only stopping at dried mushrooms, he also plans to invest in deep processing equipment to produce lingzhi tea and lingzhi extract to increase product value.

Recently, many farmers in Hai Phong have also succeeded in applying the technology of growing Cordyceps mushrooms. Although this type of mushroom only grows well in mountainous areas above 3,000 m, cultivating it in coastal plains in the natural environment is very difficult. However, with passion and research, Mr. Nguyen Huu Truong, 43 years old, member of Hai Phong Craft Village Association, Director of Truong Sinh Mushroom Cooperative, Kien Hai commune, applied modern science and technology to successfully cultivate this type of mushroom right in Hai Phong. His Cordyceps mushroom product was certified with 3-star OCOP in 2021 and he was awarded the title of "Golden Hand" artisan by Hai Phong Craft Village Association.
Mr. Truong said that the cooperative's farming area is over 100 square meters wide, equipped with modern equipment worth billions of dong to grow this type of mushroom. The farming technology transferred from the Mushroom Research and Development Center has shown outstanding efficiency. After each 50-day period, he harvests 45 kg of fresh mushrooms, processes 10 kg of dried mushrooms, and sells for 10 million VND/kg of dried mushrooms; creates jobs for 10 workers, with an average salary of 6 million VND/person/month...
Not only bringing economic benefits, high-tech mushroom cultivation also contributes to reusing agricultural by-products, is environmentally friendly and in line with the high-tech agricultural development orientation that the city has been setting out in many important resolutions.

Contribute to building high-tech agriculture
Medicinal mushrooms are a potential product. If production, processing and consumption are well combined, they will form a sustainable industry. Practices from mushroom models show their conformity with the policies and resolutions of the City People's Council on agricultural restructuring in the period of 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030.
The city has identified the development of modern agricultural production areas, applying new technologies to increase added value. At the same time, it encourages the development of concentrated agricultural and aquatic production, emphasizing credit support, digital transformation and encouraging deep processing.
This is an important resource that helps farmers boldly invest in solar energy systems, automatic control equipment and freeze-drying technology in mushroom growing and processing.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tri, Deputy General Secretary of the Hai Phong Craft Village Association, said that the high-tech mushroom growing models in the city have shown clear effectiveness, not only increasing people's income but also being in line with the orientation of clean agriculture and urban agriculture. The Association will coordinate with localities to continue supporting connections with consumer businesses, helping people feel secure in expanding production.

To develop medicinal mushroom cultivation effectively, there needs to be synchronous participation in 3 stages: farmers boldly invest, the government supports capital and businesses participate in processing and consumption. When there is a close connection between the 3 stages, the medicinal mushroom cultivation industry in Hai Phong will develop, contributing to realizing the goal of building a high-tech agriculture in the spirit of the resolution of the City People's Council.
By 2030, Hai Phong city aims to form a modern, ecological and smart agriculture, in which key products will be associated with high-tech applications and deep processing. Medicinal mushroom cultivation can completely become one of the city's key agricultural products.
