Along with the appointment and assignment of Mr. Le Quang Tung to hold the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, the Politburo also transferred Mr. Tung's predecessor, Mr. Do Thanh Binh, to hold the position of Permanent Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.

On September 27, at the 1st Congress of Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee, informed that the Politburo has a policy to mobilize and assign Mr. Do Thanh Binh, Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee, to hold the position of Permanent Deputy Minister of Home Affairs .

Mr. Binh will continue to operate until the completion of the content of the 1st Congress of Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.

According to the Central Organizing Committee, the Politburo has decided to transfer and assign Mr. Do Thanh Binh, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, to be the Permanent Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Also at the congress, on the same morning, the Central Organizing Committee announced the Politburo's decision on the transfer, appointment and assignment of Mr. Le Quang Tung, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary General of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office, to hold the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, replacing Mr. Binh.

The new Permanent Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh (58 years old, from Thoi Binh district, Ca Mau) is a member of the 13th Party Central Committee, term 2021 - 2026. Mr. Do Thanh Binh graduated with a master's degree in economics and held important positions in Kien Giang province (old) such as: Secretary of Vinh Thuan District Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Board, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee (old).

In January 2025, Mr. Do Thanh Binh was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term. After merging Can Tho City with Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces (old), Mr. Binh continued to be assigned by the Politburo and the Secretariat to hold the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee (new).
