On December 1, the Standing Committee of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee held a meeting of the Provincial Party Committee to elect the Provincial Party Committee Secretary for the 2020-2025 term with the participation of 45/46 members of the Provincial Party Committee.

The conference was chaired by Mr. Tran Van Huyen - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Dong Van Thanh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

After listening to the leaders of the Organizing Committee of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee approve the report of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee on the election of the Provincial Party Secretary for the 2020-2025 term and being informed of the requirements for the election work, the members of the Provincial Party Committee voted to elect Mr. Dong Van Thanh as the Provincial Party Secretary for the 2020-2025 term.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Tran Van Huyen - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Hau Giang province - emphasized that the decision to allow Hau Giang province to elect the Provincial Party Secretary for the 2020-2025 term from local cadres is the Central's recognition of the efforts and achievements of the Provincial Party Committee in leading and directing the implementation of political tasks in this term. Especially the contribution of Mr. Dong Van Thanh to the comprehensive development of the province in the fields of economy - society, national defense - security in recent times.

Previously, on November 2, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh, Secretary of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee, was mobilized, assigned and appointed by the Politburo to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and hold the position of Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, term 2020-2025.

On November 10, 2020, the 9th session of the People's Council of Hau Giang province, term 2016-2021, held its 18th session. Here, the delegates of the Provincial People's Council elected Mr. Dong Van Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, as Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
