Mr. Erdogan received 49.52% of the vote in the first round, leading Mr. Kilicdaroglu by 5%.

“I would like to announce that we will support the presidential candidate Recep Tayyip Erdogan and invite those voters who voted for us in the first round to vote for Mr. Erdogan,” Mr. Ogan said.

Mr Ogan said he would support a candidate who adopted tough policies towards refugees and some Kurdish groups he regards as terrorists.

“The National Coalition has not convinced us,” he said of the Kilicdaroglu-led coalition. Ogan declared that Türkiye was at a “critical juncture” and outlined four priorities that he said needed to be addressed urgently.

The first is the refugee and migrant issue in Turkey. The second is the “urgent national security threat” following the recent earthquakes. The third is economic issues. And the fourth is the fight against terrorism in Turkey, which he said needs to be “solved on all fronts, including financially.”
