Coach Amorim's reaction when Antony shined at Real Betis

(Dan Tri) - Coach Ruben Amorim explained why striker Antony shone brightly after leaving Man Utd.

"Sometimes it happens. At Man Utd there is a lot of pressure and you need a solid foundation to help young players and foreign players integrate. If the team plays well, players like Antony will be more successful," coach Ruben Amorim explained why striker Antony shone at Real Betis after leaving Man Utd in the January transfer window.

Antony joined Old Trafford from Ajax Amsterdam in 2022 for a whopping £86m, but he has never lived up to expectations, scoring just 12 goals in 96 appearances, making him one of the club's most disappointing signings.

This season, Antony only scored one goal (thanks to a penalty in the League Cup against Barnsley) before being loaned out by the "Red Devils" to Real Betis.

However, since joining the Spanish side, Antony has become a different player. He has scored two goals and won a double 'Man of the Match' award in just three games.

His most recent goal came in Real Betis' 3-0 win over Gent in the Conference League, with the winger showing the confidence and killer instinct he once had, something Man Utd fans have rarely seen during his time in England.

"From the bottom of my heart, I am really happy at Betis. I am sure of this. Today's victory is dedicated to the fans. They always support us unconditionally," Antony happily shared.

Not only Antony, many other Man Utd stars also shined after leaving Old Trafford such as David de Gea, Scott McTominay, Anthony Elanga and Antony Martial. This group of players are all pillars in European clubs and show impressive performance.

Meanwhile, Man Utd are still struggling in 13th place on the Premier League table after 24 rounds and will face Tottenham this weekend (11:30 p.m. December 16).
