Promoting the role of agriculture, farmers and rural areas in the new era

(CT) - On the morning of September 24, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired an online meeting to listen to a report on the Project to evaluate the implementation of Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW dated June 16, 2022 of the Party Central Committee on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas until 2030, with a vision to 2045 (Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW). At the Can Tho City bridge point, Mr. Tran Chi Hung, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee, and relevant departments and branches attended.

In the 3 years of implementing Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW, many positive results have been achieved. Agriculture not only continues to affirm its role as a pillar of the economy , but also participates deeply in the world economic integration. The structure of agricultural production has effectively transformed, agricultural exports have increased rapidly and stably, many export items are leading in the world. People's lives and household incomes have continuously improved, rural areas have innovated, shortening the gap with urban areas; the "One Commune One Product" program has made a breakthrough in quantity and quality...

Of the 14 targets set out in Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW for the year 2030, 2 have been exceeded: the GDP growth rate of the agricultural sector in the first 6 months of 2025 reached 3.84%, estimated to increase by 4% for the whole year of 2025, exceeding the target for 2030 (3%/year); the forest cover rate in recent years has been continuously maintained at a stable level of 42.02%. There are 8 targets that are likely to be achieved and exceeded; 4 targets need to strive for and have breakthrough and effective solutions to achieve the target by 2030.

At the conference, delegates contributed and recommended a number of contents such as promoting collective economic development in rural areas; promoting the application of science and technology, digital transformation in agricultural production to increase productivity and product quality; allocating budget resources for investment in agriculture, rural areas, farmers... to achieve the goals of Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the Government Office to coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to fully absorb the opinions of delegates at the conference, supplement supporting data to complete the report, draft submission, and project to assess the implementation of Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW. Ministries, branches, and localities continue to thoroughly grasp, organize, promote, and innovate the propaganda work on Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW. In particular, promoting breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in the fields of agriculture and environment. Effectively implementing mechanisms and policies to encourage businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas. Building modern, comprehensive, sustainable new rural areas, flexibly adapting to climate change, ensuring harmonious development between socio-economic development and environmental protection.
