Robotic surgery for digestive cancer treatment

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên07/01/2024

These are surgeries performed within the framework of a scientific conference on robotic surgery organized by K Hospital. The surgeries were performed on patients with esophageal, stomach, and rectal cancer treated at K Hospital. For each case, doctors consulted and decided on a surgical plan appropriate to the patient's condition, cancer stage, and level of metastasis.

Doctors at K Hospital perform robotic surgery to treat digestive cancer

Among those who underwent surgery was a 71-year-old female patient (in Nam Dinh ) with stomach cancer, who was consulted by experts and underwent robotic laparoscopic surgery to remove almost the entire stomach and remove the lymph nodes. Another patient, a 52-year-old male from Hai Duong, had rectal cancer and underwent 3D laparoscopic surgery to remove a segment of the rectum, remove the lymph nodes, and a low colorectal anastomosis, helping the patient avoid having to have a permanent colostomy...

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Binh, Deputy Director of K Hospital, said that surgery to treat digestive cancer with robots has many advantages over conventional open or endoscopic surgery, because the robotic arms have high flexibility and 3D images help surgeons observe clearly, perform meticulous dissections, and operate accurately. For patients, surgery with robots has many clear advantages: ensuring aesthetics, minimal trauma, no bleeding, maximum pain relief, and reduced hospital stay while cancer treatment results are still guaranteed.
