Phu Tho completes spring crop planting

Farmers in Huong Non commune, Tam Nong district weed the early spring rice planted.

In addition to rice, the province has also planted over 3,400 hectares of corn; nearly 3,200 hectares of various vegetables, nearly 1,200 hectares of peanuts and over 450 hectares of cassava (reaching over 90% of the spring crop plan). The province has also planted 743,000 scattered trees and 1,020 hectares of concentrated forests.

Currently, the time when plant pests and diseases are spreading rapidly. Currently, over 136 hectares are infected with golden apple snails; 260 hectares are infected with physiological diseases; 125 hectares are infected with thrips; 37 hectares are damaged by rats; 27 hectares of corn are infected with fall armyworms; 32 hectares of vegetables are damaged by flea beetles and nearly 24 hectares of vegetables are infected with downy mildew.

To ensure production results, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection has directed district-level stations to coordinate with localities to guide farmers on treatment measures, and at the same time prepare to launch a concentrated rat extermination campaign. At the same time, they are instructing farmers to continue taking care of the planted rice areas with solutions such as: keeping water in the fields to ensure rice nutrition, creating conditions for rice to grow and tiller well; applying the first top dressing to the late spring rice area to be planted in the second round when the rice has recovered; closely monitoring the fields and weather conditions to promptly take measures to handle pests or natural disasters; speeding up the progress of planting green vegetables in the form of intercropping and crop rotation to avoid the situation of massive harvesting at the same time leading to a loss of value...
