The Navy dispatched two ships to rescue the burning Singapore cargo ship.

At 2:20 p.m. on January 31, the APL (Singaporean) ship Vancouver was traveling from Hong Kong to Singapore, about 4 nautical miles southeast of Hon Dua dam when it caught fire in compartment number 7.

The Department of Search and Rescue has mobilized Coast Guard ship 8005 and SAR ship 2701 to respond and provide support.

Due to the complicated developments of the fire, at 8:20 am today (February 1), the Department of Rescue and Search and Rescue requested the Navy to continue to mobilize the Tan Cang Dragon ship belonging to the Saigon New Port Corporation (Navy) to the scene. At 9:30 am the same day, the Navy Command mobilized another ship 991 belonging to the 189th Navy Submarine Brigade departing from Cam Ranh to carry out the firefighting mission.

At 2:30 a.m. on January 2, Navy ships approached the Vancouver ship and coordinated with forces to deploy water spray to reduce fire and smoke.

The Vancouver ship owner is also hiring five experts from France to advise the Vancouver on fire fighting. The Vancouver has a capacity of 115,000 tons. The area where the ship crashed is currently experiencing bad weather and high waves.
