Quang Binh - Savannakhet continue to cooperate in border protection

On December 5, the border delegations of Quang Binh province (Vietnam) and Savannakhet province (Laos) held talks and signed a memorandum of cooperation on border protection in 2025. Attending were Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee Doan Ngoc Lam, Deputy Governor of Savannakhet province Ling thong - Sengtavan.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Doan Ngoc Lam highly appreciated the border cooperation process between Quang Binh and Savannakhet provinces. The security situation, social order and safety on the border between the two provinces continued to be maintained; the border system and national border markers were managed and protected in their original state. The border protection forces of the two provinces regularly coordinated bilateral patrols, exchanged information and situations, and closely implemented them.

The two provinces maintained good cooperation in the fields of defense, security and border between all levels of government and specialized forces; maintained annual consultations at the provincial level as well as with relevant functional forces. The Quang Binh Provincial Border Guard Command coordinated with the Savannakhet Provincial Military Command to draft the content of signing the Bilateral Patrol Agreement; Lang Ho Border Guard Station (Quang Binh Provincial Border Guard Command) and Border Guard Company 321 (Savannakhet Provincial Military Command) coordinated bilateral patrols, held consultations, exchanged situations, and effectively implemented the twinning agreement that the two units had signed.

The two provinces have strengthened the dissemination and education of laws on national borders for officials and people on both sides of the border to fully understand and strictly comply with legal documents signed by the two countries and the laws of each country through many diverse and rich forms. The authorities at all levels of the two provinces have many policies and investments in infrastructure construction, socio -economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction in border areas, contributing to improving the lives of people on both sides of the border.

At the meeting, the two provinces agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding to continue close, regular and effective cooperation between all levels of government and border management and protection forces in 2025. Authorities at all levels and functional forces of the two localities maintain a good coordination regime of bilateral patrols to protect the border and border markers; strengthen the implementation of measures to continue to effectively prevent and stop violations in border areas; resolutely fight against all types of crimes of smuggling, transporting explosives and narcotics across the border, illegally exploiting forest products and hunting wild animals in border areas.

The two provinces continue to create favorable conditions for people and businesses to invest in production and business, and develop the economy, culture and society in the border areas. At the same time, they will closely coordinate in the work of preventing and combating cross-border epidemics, effectively controlling and minimizing the spread of epidemics in the border areas. In case of natural disasters or epidemics, each side will proactively respond and promptly notify the other.

Deputy Governor of Savannakhet Province Ling thong - Sengtavan hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to effectively implement the signed cooperation content, contributing to strengthening solidarity between the two provinces and the two countries of Vietnam and Laos.
