Quang Binh lacks 400 public preschool and primary school teachers

In the 2024-2025 school year, Quang Binh province will have more than 246,000 students, an increase of 2,900 students compared to the previous school year. The total number of teachers in 2024 in this province is 13,177 people, currently lacking 1,311 teachers. Faced with this situation, Quang Binh province has added 914 contract teaching positions but is still short of nearly 400 teachers at public preschools and general education institutions. Many schools cannot recruit a number of job positions according to demand, and have difficulty arranging teachers, especially for English, Information Technology and Technology at the primary level; Music and Fine Arts at the high school level.

All levels of education in Quang Binh province lack teachers before the new school year.

Mr. Dang Ngoc Tuan, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Binh province, said that currently there is a situation of not being able to recruit teachers for some positions, especially English teachers, which are in great shortage. English teachers do not want to teach in mountainous, remote areas. Some teachers even leave to teach at English centers. To temporarily overcome this problem, the education sector must transfer English teachers from these schools to other schools in the same area.

Mr. Dang Ngoc Tuan added that the industry also mobilized high school teachers to teach middle school and primary school to overcome the shortage of English teachers in mountainous areas.

“The mass mobilization work, motivating the teaching staff and the Department will manage to get teachers from the lowlands to go to the highlands to teach, somehow achieving the set goals. When Decree 111 of 2022 of the Government is issued, we will coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs to give timely advice, but only 70% of the number of teachers in this contract is allowed, so we have to apply it flexibly. I also suggest that the districts take the initiative to find teachers to teach students at the primary and secondary levels,” said Mr. Tuan.
