Quang Nam orients investment in border gates to meet trade needs

Quang Nam has a land border of more than 157.4km adjacent to Sekong province (Laos) in Nam Giang and Tay Giang districts; on this route there is currently a pair of Nam Giang - Dac Ta Ooc international border gates and Tay Giang - Ka Lum secondary border gates.

According to the plan, for Nam Giang International Border Gate, new infrastructure and equipment will be upgraded and invested to ensure international border gate standards. For Tay Giang Border Gate, new infrastructure and equipment will be invested to ensure main border gate and international border gate standards.

Regarding implementation progress, by 2025, the investment and upgrading of Nam Giang International Border Gate infrastructure will be completed, such as investing in the construction of public housing for agencies working at the border gate; building wharves and parking lots to serve the inspection and control of import and export goods and modern technical equipment to ensure compliance with prescribed criteria and standards.

At the same time, upgrade the Joint Control Station to suit the function of managing customs clearance of goods at the border gate. By 2029, complete the investment, upgrade and expansion of the entire National Highway 14D according to prescribed criteria and standards.

For Tay Giang Border Gate, by 2029, complete investment in border gate infrastructure; modern technical equipment and DT606 route to ensure compliance with criteria and standards prescribed for land border gate management; complete documents and procedures to request competent authorities to approve upgrading the main border gate, establish the scope of the border gate area, and general planning for investment and construction of Tay Giang Border Gate.

By 2050, complete documents, procedures and invest in infrastructure of Tay Giang Border Gate; invest in modern technical equipment and DT606 route to ensure compliance with prescribed criteria and standards; announce upgrading to an international border gate.

The Provincial People's Committee requested investment in building border gates in the province for sustainable development, contributing to promoting trade, logistics, tourism and service activities commensurate with the potential and trade needs between Quang Nam province and Sekong province.

Identify investment in the construction of border gates with focus and key points, suitable to each stage of socio -economic development and development needs of Quang Nam province and Sekong province.

Investment items should be reasonable and suitable to the usage function and flow of people, vehicles and goods through the border gate; focus on investing in public infrastructure, especially road traffic connecting regions and foreign traffic.
