Quang Tri issues 37 growing area codes for agricultural products

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Tri, up to now, the whole province has issued 37 growing area codes (GAPs) in localities, of which 11 GAPs are for export and 26 GAPs are for domestic use.

In order to improve economic efficiency, and at the same time build for Quang Tri province strong production areas, agricultural products participating in export, in 2024, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has promoted the organization of issuance and management of MSVT, traceability. In particular, strengthen propaganda, dissemination, guidance and support for enterprises and production and business establishments in applying the traceability system.

Up to now, the whole province has issued 1 packaging facility code, 37 MSVT in localities with a scale of nearly 2,880 hectares. Specifically: 9 MSVT on rice plants (102.6 hectares), 4 MSVT on pepper plants (75.07 hectares), 3 MSVT on nem trees (8.5 hectares), 2 MSVT on an xoa trees (7.3 hectares), 1 MSVT on green bean trees (30 hectares), 1 MSVT on passion fruit trees (2 hectares), 1 MSVT on peanut trees (5 hectares), 1 MSVT on dragon fruit trees (5 hectares), 1 MSVT on citrus fruit trees (9.5 hectares), 1 MSVT on macadamia, banana and jackfruit trees (532 hectares), 1 MSVT on bamboo shoots (3 hectares), 1 MSVT on watermelon (5 hectares). In addition, there are 3 MSVT on passion fruit trees and 1 packaging facility code being negotiated by the Plant Protection Department with the importing country to complete the steps waiting for code issuance.

The issuance of growing area codes is not only a technical requirement but also an important tool to increase the value and expand the market for Vietnamese agricultural products. This is a necessary step to build a modern, sustainable and integrated agriculture. Growing area codes act as a "passport" to help Vietnamese agricultural products easily penetrate demanding markets in the world .
