On October 4, at Phuong Nam Bookstore (Ninh Kieu ward, Can Tho city), the book launch of Don ca tai tu in a tourist space by cultural researcher and composer Nham Hung took place.
The 180-page book, published by Literature Publishing House, was painstakingly researched and compiled by author Nham Hung over a long period of time with extensive work and professional experience.
The book begins with an overview of the formation and development of "don ca tai tu" and why it is called "don ca tai tu".
Citing quotes from many sources, the author argues that "don ca tai tu is a professional style of playing traditional music, with the highest meaning being good at the profession and specializing in the profession of don ca."
But sometimes people do not live by this profession, do not use their music and singing to make a living, but only to exchange and compete in art to satisfy their passion. Therefore, people who play amateur music are gradually respected by society, called "talented", like scholars in feudal times.
Next, in the section "Famous musicians - Famous amateur singers of the past: going to restaurants - recording records - going on stage", the author selects and introduces portraits of famous musicians such as Sau Tung, Nam Co, Bay Ba, Van Vy, Chin Trich, Muoi Con, Muoi Huong...
And famous singers such as Co Ba Tra Vinh , Co Ba Ben Tre, Co Nam Can Tho, Co Bach Hue, famous singer Cong Thanh. Each famous singer is represented in a separate section with full information about her life and career.

The highlight of the book is to contribute ideas and solutions to bring traditional music into the tourist space of the West.
These are real stories of successfully bringing Don Ca Tai Tu into tourism activities at My Khanh Tourist Village (Can Tho city), Cao Van Lau Musician Memorial Site (Bac Lieu province, now Ca Mau province) or bringing Don Ca Tai Tu on cruise ships to serve tourists...
"I believe that with proper attention and investment, the art of Don Ca Tai Tu will become a quality, attractive, luxurious, and valuable tourism product, worthy of the title of intangible cultural heritage of humanity," the author wrote in the conclusion of the book.
Cultural researcher and playwright Nham Hung was born in 1949. He was formerly the deputy director of Tay Do Theater (Can Tho city).
In addition to being a composer, scriptwriter and general director of many large-scale festival and event programs, he is also the author of many valuable books and research works, such as "Floating Markets of the Mekong Delta", "Floating Markets of the West", "Learning about Southern Folk Cakes", "Turban Culture"...
