Colors of Lo Lo festival

The Lo Lo ethnic group is one of the ethnic minorities with a very small population (less than 10,000 people) in our country. In Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province, the Lo Lo ethnic group lives in 4 hamlets of Ca Meng, Ca Pen A, Ca Pen B and Ca Dong of Duc Hanh commune.

Experience the festival of the Lo Lo people with author Le Tan Thanh through the photo album "Colors of Lo Lo Festival". The photo album was submitted by the author to the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam", organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications . The photo album will show you the beauty of the colorful costumes of the people when participating in the annual traditional festival.

The Lo Lo people have a unique and rich culture, from costumes, folk songs, folk dances, traditional occupations, cuisine to customs, wedding practices, festivals, and unique rituals that are preserved to this day.

As a nation with a developed culture, ancient bronze drums, ancient hieroglyphic writing... the Lo Lo people are very proud of their rich culture through dances, folk songs, and fairy tales. The bronze drum is a cultural treasure of the Lo Lo people, a sacred object connecting gods and humans, therefore, the bronze drum is only played on special occasions of importance to the villagers: funerals, worshiping the local god, worshiping heaven and earth and community cultural activities.

Within the framework of the Festival, people and tourists can experience the following activities: Mass art festival, Lo Lo folk song competition; traditional costume performance; brocade embroidery competition; cotton spinning, weaving; competition on weaving bamboo and rattan household and production items; and folk games.

Activities for tourists to experience include cotton spinning, weaving, knitting, folk games of basket throwing, rice pounding, stick pushing, tug of war...

In particular, the Lo Lo ethnic group in Bao Lam district still preserves and transmits traditional costumes with meticulously embroidered patterns and high cultural value.

Despite many economic difficulties, the Lo Lo people still preserve and pass on their ancestors' customs, practices and traditional festivals. The activities of the Festival contribute to educating the tradition of patriotism, consolidating and strengthening the great national unity, promoting socio-economic development, meeting the people's need for creativity and enjoyment of spiritual culture./.
