This is the information in Document No. 4339/TTr-UBND submitted to the People's Council of Nghe An province for consideration and approval of street naming in Vinh city, phase 7, at the regular meeting in mid-2024.

It is expected that 40 streets will be named, including 29 streets named after famous people and 11 streets named after places and historical events.

Musician An Thuyen's name is on the list of famous people chosen to have streets named after him thanks to his contributions in the fields of music , culture and arts.

Musician An Thuyen was born on August 15, 1949 in Quynh Luu, Nghe An. He was the former Principal of the Military University of Culture and Arts, Executive Committee Member, Head of the Inspection Committee of the Vietnam Musicians Association, 5th term.

He is considered one of the musicians who have skillfully exploited, applied and developed the musical heritage of Nghe - Tinh folk songs, along with other names such as Nguyen Van Ty, Tran Hoan, Nguyen Tai Tue, Doan Nho, Nguyen Trong Tao...

Musician An Thuyen has won many awards such as the Ministry of National Defense Award for the songs Marching to the Northwest (1984), Love Poetry of the Mountain (1994), First Prize from the Ministry of Culture and Information and the Vietnam Musicians Association for the songs When Tanks Pass Through Quan Ho Region (1985), Heroic Vietnamese Mother (1995), Second Prize from the Vietnam Musicians Association for Nine Degrees of Love (1992). In 2007, he was awarded the State Prize for Literature and Arts.

He passed away on July 3, 2015 due to a heart attack, leaving behind deep sorrow for his family, relatives, friends, colleagues and students.
