Unit 1 of Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project is about to be connected to the grid

On the afternoon of July 25, Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam inspected the projects of Quang Trach Power Center.

According to the report of Vietnam Electricity Group, the total capacity of the projects Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant (1,403 MW), Quang Trach II LNG (1,500 MW), and Quang Trach III LNG (1,500 MW) is 4,403 MW.

Regarding the overall progress, at the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project, the project has so far reached 94.29% progress, of which design work reached 99.6%; equipment procurement reached 99.5%; construction and installation reached 85.9%; calibration testing reached 7.3%. Currently, the project still has some remaining issues that need to be continued and focused on to ensure progress.

The project will initially burn oil on August 19, 2025 (according to the direction of the Prime Minister in Official Dispatch No. 81/CD-TTg dated June 3, 2025; Unit 1 will be connected to the grid on August 19, 2025).

Regarding the Quang Trach II Thermal Power Plant project, the project is currently in the process of appraising the Feasibility Study Report, serving as a basis for completing the selection of the main contractor in the fourth quarter of 2025.

After inspecting the scene, Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam had a working session with Vietnam Electricity Group and related departments, branches and localities.

At the working session, the Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province requested the investor and contractors to continue to effectively implement the assigned tasks.

Vice Chairman Hoang Nam directed departments, branches and localities to continue to accompany and actively coordinate with investors to remove obstacles and difficulties in site clearance (GPMB) for the project. Regarding the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project, Standing Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam requested Phu Trach commune to soon complete and establish a GPMB Council to completely handle the remaining problems in the GPMB work of the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project.

In the immediate future, focus on prioritizing the mobilization of remaining households to receive funding and hand over the site to the investor, and coordinate with the functional forces to make a plan to ensure security and order and protect the construction according to regulations before August 15, 2025; complete the relocation of Vinh Son communal house before September 2, 2025; actively coordinate with the investor to complete the documents and legal procedures for site handover and speed up the progress of completing the construction of the resettlement area phase 4 and the boat mooring wharf.

Regarding the Quang Trach II LNG Power Plant project, Vice Chairman Hoang Nam assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to urgently coordinate with relevant departments, branches and units to appraise the project's Feasibility Study Report.

Regarding the Quang Trach III LNG project, Standing Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam said that Quang Tri province has submitted a report and proposed to the Prime Minister to consider assigning EVN to be the investor of the Quang Trach III LNG project, and is currently in the process of collecting opinions from ministries and branches. Therefore, the Economic Zone Management Board is required to coordinate with departments, branches and localities to actively coordinate with EVN to complete the report to the Prime Minister; survey, research, and prepare a project investment proposal.
