After many difficulties, the US Senate released a security bill with aid to Ukraine, but the future is "difficult to say"

On February 4, the US Senate announced a $118 billion security bill, including increased border protection and aid to Ukraine and Israel after months of negotiations.

In addition to the $20.23 billion in border security spending, the bill also includes $60.06 billion in support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, $14.1 billion in security assistance for Israel, and $2.44 billion for the US Central Command (CENTCOM) and the conflict in the Red Sea.

The US also plans to spend $4.83 billion to support its partners in the Indo- Pacific region facing aggression from China.

The bill also includes $10 billion to provide humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza, the West Bank and Ukraine, the source said.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said an initial vote on the bill would take place no later than February 7, but faced bipartisan opposition.

“The priorities in this bill are too important to ignore and too important to let politics get in the way… The United States and its allies face complex challenges, sometimes in concert with adversaries,” Mr. Schumer said.

The bill faces an uncertain future amid opposition from presidential candidate Donald Trump and Republican hardliners, Reuters reported.

Republicans are refusing to approve President Joe Biden's request for an additional $60 billion in aid to Ukraine until Democrats accept their demands for measures to curb migration across the border from Mexico.

Recently, the European Union (EU) agreed on a 50 billion Euro (54 billion USD) aid package for Ukraine, thereby creating momentum for the US to approve a new aid package for Kiev.
