After revocation, the diploma granted to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet will be canceled.

Speaking to the press, a representative of Hanoi University said that the school is carrying out procedures to revoke the bachelor's degree in English from the distance learning program granted to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet at the request of the Ministry of Education and Training .

Mr. Vuong Tan Viet had his diplomas revoked due to using an illegal high school diploma.

Mr. Viet studied English Language, distance learning program at the University of Foreign Languages ​​(now Hanoi University) from 1994 to 2001. This is also the first university to award a bachelor's degree in English to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet. Then, in 2019, Mr. Viet continued to be recognized for his graduation and awarded a bachelor's degree in Law with a second degree - part-time study, with a good grade at Hanoi Law University.

On October 22, along with admitting to using an illegal high school diploma, Mr. Vuong Tan Viet voluntarily surrendered the diplomas for handling according to regulations.

Previously, after a careful and thorough review process, the authorities determined that Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's high school diploma was illegal. The Ministry of Education and Training requested relevant higher education institutions to urgently revoke the diplomas granted to Mr. Viet according to the law, and at the same time review the training organization process to avoid similar cases.

In mid-August 2024, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City issued a document verifying Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's high school diploma.

In the document, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City confirmed: Mr. Vuong Tan Viet, born in 1959, was not on the list of candidates and the list of names and scores in the 1989 high school graduation exam of the Department of Education and Training of the City; was not on the list of candidates awarded high school graduation certificates on June 6, 1989 of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training on admission and training for bachelor, master and doctoral degrees, students who commit fraud in preparing documents to obtain degrees and certificates (using fake degrees in their application) will be forced to leave school. Diplomas that have been granted will be revoked and canceled according to regulations.
