Ca Mau Department of Education and Training proposes 2 options for arranging colleges

GD&TĐ - According to the proposed plans, Ca Mau province plans to reduce the number of colleges from 6 to 2 or 3.

On August 21, information from the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau province, the unit coordinated with relevant departments, branches and units to propose plans to rearrange colleges in the province.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau, after the merger, the whole province has 6 colleges under the Provincial People's Committee including: Ca Mau Medical College, Ca Mau Community College, Ca Mau Vietnam - Korea Vocational College, Bac Lieu Medical College, Bac Lieu College of Economics - Technology, Bac Lieu Vocational College.

Schools have been organizing training in 84 majors and occupations at elementary level and above, of which 23 majors and occupations have at least 2 similar training schools.

The team of teachers and managers currently has 446 people (336 teachers; 110 managers); the enrollment scale for the period 2021 - 2025 is 33,375 students (College 6,856 students, Secondary 3,059 students; Primary and vocational training under 3 months 23,460 students).

In addition, Ca Mau has Bac Lieu University which conducts college, university and post-graduate training, providing high-quality human resources for the province. Currently, it is training 14 majors and professions in the fields of: Social Sciences, Pedagogy, Information Technology, Agriculture, Economics ; training 1 major and profession in college (Preschool Education).

In order to develop the university and vocational education network system in the province in a streamlined and reasonable structure in terms of qualifications, training majors and occupations; create favorable conditions for learners; connect training facilities with businesses and the labor market. The Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau has coordinated with the Departments of Home Affairs, Finance and leaders of colleges in the province to hold meetings to discuss, agree and propose 2 plans to rearrange colleges in the province.

Vocational training at Vietnam - Korea Vocational College Ca Mau.

Option 1: Merge Ca Mau Medical College and Bac Lieu Medical College into Ca Mau Medical College.

Merge Bac Lieu Vocational College and Vietnam - Korea Vocational College Ca Mau into Vietnam - Korea Vocational College Ca Mau.

Merge Bac Lieu College of Economics and Technology and Ca Mau Community College into Ca Mau College; transfer the status quo of the Faculty of Pedagogy of Ca Mau Community College (including staff, lecturers, students, training programs...) to Bac Lieu University.

Option 2: Merge Ca Mau Medical College and Bac Lieu Medical College into Ca Mau Medical College.

Merge Bac Lieu Vocational College and Vietnam - Korea Vocational College Ca Mau into Vietnam - Korea Vocational College Ca Mau.

Ending the operations of Bac Lieu College of Economics and Technology and Ca Mau Community College; transferring the status quo of the professional faculties of the two schools (including staff, lecturers, students, training programs...) to Bac Lieu University and Vietnam - Korea Vocational College Ca Mau.

According to two options, Ca Mau Medical College and Bac Lieu Medical College will merge into Ca Mau Medical College.

“Each option has certain advantages and limitations, but is consistent with the goal and orientation of developing a diverse vocational education system, reasonably distributed according to the structure of occupations and training levels, and streamlining public vocational training centers according to the policy in Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW.

The arrangement also aims to avoid duplication of functions among public vocational training institutions, enhance the financial autonomy of the unit, streamline the apparatus, reduce staff, improve the quality of the teaching staff, improve the efficiency of enrollment and vocational training quality," the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau informed.
