New development orientation for Quy Nhon University

On September 30, in Gia Lai, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc attended the Ceremony to announce the Decision to recognize the Rector of Quy Nhon University for the 2025-2030 term.

At the ceremony, the Deputy Minister presented Decision No. 2589/QD-BGDDT, dated September 11, 2025, recognizing Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Duc Tung - Rector of Quy Nhon University for the 2020-2025 term to continue holding the position of Rector for the 2025-2030 term.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc spoke at the Ceremony to announce the Decision to recognize the Rector of Quy Nhon University for the 2025-2030 term.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc congratulated Associate Professor Dr. Doan Duc Tung on being trusted and assigned this important responsibility.

The Deputy Minister emphasized: "This is not only a recognition of the qualities, capacity, experience, and dedication, but also a trust and confidence in the Principal in his role as leader, administrator, manager, and guide for the strong and sustainable development of Quy Nhon University."

The Deputy Minister also suggested that the school focus on four major orientations:

Firstly, thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the directions of General Secretary To Lam at the Ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the tradition of the Education sector, the opening of the 2025-2026 school year and the Conclusion at the National Conference to implement Resolution 71-NQ/TW of the Politburo . On that basis, develop a strategic plan and specific action program, in line with the vision, mission, position and advantages of the school.

Second, widely implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW, creating breakthroughs in training and research. Innovate training programs, especially in the fields of educational science, teacher training, STEM, artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology, renewable energy, marine economy ...; closely link scientific research, innovation with training and talent development; promote cooperation with businesses, localities, and organizations at home and abroad.

Third, develop, train and attract a team of lecturers, especially in STEM and key fields; ensure program standards and university education standards; have a mechanism to attract domestic and foreign experts and scientists to teach and do research.

Fourth, promote comprehensive digital transformation, apply digital technology and artificial intelligence in all activities. Build smart textbooks, shared learning materials, virtual laboratories and practices, online testing and assessment systems. In addition, perfect the internal quality assurance system; promote autonomy associated with accountability. At the same time, mobilize legal resources outside the budget, cooperate with businesses to modernize facilities, digital infrastructure, and improve training and research capacity.

Determined to bring Quy Nhon University into the top 100 of Southeast Asia

Associate Professor Dr. Doan Duc Tung delivered a speech accepting the position of Rector of Quy Nhon University.

In his acceptance speech, Associate Professor Dr. Doan Duc Tung expressed his honor and emotion when the Minister of Education and Training trusted him and continued to assign him the important responsibility of Rector of Quy Nhon University for the 2025-2030 term.

He affirmed that he and the school's leadership will focus on building Quy Nhon University to meet regional quality standards, aiming to be in the top 100 Southeast Asian universities according to the QS Asia rankings.

In the new term, the school aims to establish a Pedagogical School, a Business - Management School, a Technical - Technology School, and move towards establishing Quy Nhon University; build the National Defense - Security Education Center to become a key regional center. The training scale is expected to expand from 16,000 to 20,000 full-time students; develop a teaching staff of 600 people, of which over 60% have doctoral degrees.

Regarding training, the school will improve quality, open new undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs to meet social needs; complete the accreditation of 100% of teacher training programs; strive for 60% of programs to meet domestic and international standards. School administration will be innovated in the direction of streamlining, effectiveness and efficiency; strongly apply digital transformation, digital technology and artificial intelligence, and build a KPI system.

In scientific and technological research, the School closely connects with local and business sectors; establishes science and technology enterprises; builds at least 3 strong research groups and 1 excellent research group that meets national standards. At the same time, promotes deep international integration, expands cooperation, and provides dual training with prestigious universities and research institutes in the region and the world.

Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Duc Tung was born in 1975, graduated with a bachelor's, master's and doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Hanoi University of Science and Technology in 2000, 2004 and 2009. Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Duc Tung was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering in early 2020.

Before receiving the Decision to recognize the Rector of Quy Nhon University in Decision No. 1738 dated June 28, 2024, Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Duc Tung held the following positions: Deputy Head of Faculty of Economics and Technology, Head of Faculty of Economics and Technology, Head of Facilities Department and Vice Rector at Quy Nhon University. Currently, Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Duc Tung is a delegate of the People's Council of Gia Lai province, term XII, 2021-2026.
