Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training takes responsibility

On the evening of October 9, information from the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa said that it had just sent an explanatory report to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province and the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Education and Training about the incident of mistakenly recording the exam scores of a candidate taking the entrance exam to 10 Le Hong Phong High School (Bim Son town) for the 2024-2025 school year.

Previously, after the end of the 10th grade entrance exam for public high schools in the 2024-2025 school year, the Department of Education and Training received a petition reflecting that CTH candidate, exam room No. 6, Examination Council of Le Hong Phong High School (Bim Son town) had average academic ability, but the entrance exam score for 10th grade was unusually high.

Specifically, the scores on the board are: Math 8.0 points; Literature 8.5 points and English 6.4 points. Meanwhile, the scores recorded on the actual exam of the candidate for Math are 4.5 points, Literature 6.5 points and English 2.4 points.

After calculating the total score and re-examining, candidate CTH was not admitted to Le Hong Phong High School for the 2024-2025 school year.

Regarding this incident, Mr. Vu Ngoc Liem, Chairman of the Examination Board of Ngoc Lac High School, took responsibility and apologized to parents and candidates for the incident of mistakenly recording the scores of CTH candidates, examination room number 6, Examination Board of Le Hong Phong High School (Bim Son town).

Mr. Liem said: "Immediately after the incident, I and the re-scoring and scoring team worked with the Department of Education and Training Inspectorate to resolve the incident according to regulations. This is an unfortunate incident that happened to the exam board, there was no negativity or intention. The re-scoring and scoring team would like to take responsibility to the parents, CTH candidates, and the leaders of the Department of Education and Training and is ready to accept any form of disciplinary action from superiors."

Mr. Liem added: "During the working process, due to work pressure and lack of concentration, the CTH candidate's score was recorded incorrectly. I and the other members confirm that the incorrect score recording of candidate H was completely unintentional."

The report sent by the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa clearly stated: The above incident did not happen because of the teacher marking the test but because the scoring team of the Ngoc Lac High School Examination Council mistakenly scored the CTH candidate in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year and the responsibility also belongs to the Chairman of the Examination Council.

The Department Inspectorate also worked with the family, the Examination Council and the teachers directly involved and confirmed that there was no negativity in this incident.

Immediately after the announcement of the conclusion of the Department Inspectorate, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training directed Le Hong Phong High School to have the Admissions Council re-organize the admissions examination for CTH candidates in accordance with regulations.

Accordingly, candidate CTH did not have enough points to be admitted to Le Hong Phong High School.

On September 26, 2024, Le Hong Phong High School invited representatives of CTH students' families to send notices of admission results to grade 10 of the school.

Regarding the review of the responsibility of the Examination Council of Ngoc Lac High School, on October 8, 2024, the Department of Education and Training issued a notice directing Ngoc Lac High School to organize a review of the responsibility of the staff and teachers directly related to this error.

On October 9, 2024, Ngoc Lac High School organized a council to review the responsibilities of the relevant members. As a result, disciplinary action in the form of a reprimand was taken against Ms. Ngo Thi Tuyet, a teacher at Ngoc Lac High School.

Reviewing and drawing lessons from the staff and teachers of Ngoc Lac High School, including: Mr. Vu Ngoc Liem, Principal of Ngoc Lac High School; Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh, Vu Thi Thuy, Tran Thi Tu, all teachers of Ngoc Lac High School.
