The Bastion-P coastal defense missile system was developed by Russia in the 90s of the last century, but it was not until 2011 that the Russian army began to deploy and use this missile system.
Up to now, only 3 countries are equipped with the K300P Bastion-P missile system, including Russia, Syria and Vietnam. Egypt is also said to be interested and ordered this defense missile system since 2020, but there is still no official information.

The basic structure of the K300P Bastion-P missile complex includes 4 launchers (on the MZKT-7930 heavy truck chassis), each carrying 2 missile launch tubes; 4 ammunition trucks (also using MZKT-7930 trucks), equipped with cranes to load ammunition to the launchers; one or two fire control vehicles (on the MZKT-65273 truck chassis) and one logistics support vehicle.
The deployment and combat process of the K300P Bastion-P complex takes only 3 to 4 minutes. When preparing to launch, the hydraulic support legs on the vehicle carrying the launcher will be lowered to stabilize the vehicle, the compartment containing the missile launchers will be fully opened, and the missile launchers will be raised vertically.

Once deployed, the complex can remain combat-ready for 3 to 5 days without the support of backup equipment. If additional logistical support vehicles are added, the combat-ready status will be extended to 30 days.
The K300P Bastion-P complex uses the P-800 Oniks supersonic anti-ship missile (also known as the Yakhont missile), 8.9m long, 0.7m in diameter, weighing 3 tons, capable of carrying a warhead weighing 200–250 kg.
The missile is equipped with a 1.7m wingspan, uses a straight jet engine, liquid fuel, and has an operating range of 120 to 300km depending on the cruise altitude. The missile can reach a maximum speed of Mach 2.5 (2.5 times the speed of sound, equivalent to 750m/s).

Compared to previous generation coastal defense missiles, the trajectory of the P-800 Oniks is more special. As soon as it leaves the launch pad, the P-800 Oniks will soar high, and gradually lower its altitude as it approaches the target. The distance to the target when the missile descends can be programmed in advance.
Upon receiving the launch command, the missile will activate the combustion chamber to exit the launch tube before opening the directional stabilization and navigation system.

After launch, in the initial and mid-phase, the missile will fly according to the pre-programmed inertial guidance mode. In the final phase, the missile will activate its own radar to detect targets at a distance of 75km for large targets and lower its altitude to fly close to the sea surface (5-15m).
It is the mixed high-low trajectory that makes intercepting the P-800 Oniks missile difficult. The accuracy of the P-800 Oniks missile is very high (over 90%).

The K300P Bastion-P missile system is capable of destroying targets at sea such as warships, aircraft carriers or amphibious vehicles with high precision. Thanks to a range of up to 300km, the K300P Bastion-P missile system can protect a 600km coastline.

Thanks to new and modern technologies, K300P Bastion-P is considered one of the most modern and mobile coastal defense missile systems in the world today, creating a "Steel Shield on the East Sea coast" in the ability to defend and protect the sovereignty of the sea, islands, and continental shelf of the Fatherland.
