New vitality in the ethnic minority areas in the Southeast of the province

In recent years, thanks to the attention of the Party, the State and the efforts of the people, the lives of people here have improved significantly, the average income reached 46.55 million VND/person/year, the New Rural Construction movement has spread strongly.

New rural development from agriculture

In La Da commune, a purely ethnic minority area, the physical infrastructure as well as socio -economic conditions face many difficulties. However, the commune Party Committee always identifies the key direction as developing sustainable agriculture associated with concentrated commodity production. The commune Party Committee Secretary - Nguyen Minh Phuong said: "We focus on organizing technical training courses for people, encouraging the planting of trees with high economic value such as durian, rubber, mangosteen, coffee... Thanks to that, the productivity and quality of agricultural products are increasingly improved, helping to increase income for people".

Along with that, the movement "Joining hands and hearts to build new rural areas" has been strongly responded by the people. Concrete and cement roads have been completed under the motto "State supports, People do", opening up favorable opportunities for trading goods. The cultural and spiritual life of the people is increasingly rich, the political system is firmly consolidated, security and order are maintained.

With a large development space, a lot of room left, and convenient basic traffic infrastructure, La Da commune has DT 714 road, national highway 55 passing through... which are conditions to take advantage of socio-economic development opportunities. Therefore, in the coming period, La Da commune will continue to mobilize people to specialize in growing rice, coffee, durian, avocado and other valuable fruit trees; at the same time, develop cattle, pig and goat farming associated with science and technology transfer. The government encourages the replication of effective models, production according to value chains, application of high technology, thereby creating a solid foundation for ethnic minorities to rise up and get rich.

Highlights of comprehensive development

If La Da thrives on agriculture, Bac Binh commune is a more diverse development picture. Established on the basis of merging many administrative units, Bac Binh commune currently has more than 51,000 people, of which more than 19,000 are Cham people, accounting for more than 37% of the commune's population. Secretary of the Bac Binh Commune Party Committee - Nguyen Quoc Thang said: Thanks to the attention and leadership of superiors, in recent years, Bac Binh commune has gradually overcome difficulties, achieving many achievements in the fields of socio-economy, national defense - security, Party building and the political system. In particular, the commune focuses on supporting ethnic minorities to apply technical advances in growing rice, dragon fruit, vegetables, etc. Agricultural cooperatives maintain effective operations, helping people have more conditions to develop production.

The highlight of Bac Binh is the connection between economic development and the preservation of traditional culture. The Cham pottery craft, which was listed by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection in 2023, is being preserved and promoted in a sustainable manner. The traditional rice paper craft village has also improved its techniques, using electric kilns instead of rice husk kilns, both improving productivity and ensuring environmental hygiene.

Along with that, Bac Binh commune also strongly develops trade and services. In the area, there are 51 enterprises, more than 400 business households, and 3 central markets - a bustling place for exchange and purchase of goods. This is the foundation for Bac Binh to become an important economic and social center of the Southeast region of the province.

The positive changes in La Da commune, Bac Binh and many other localities in the region are a testament to the continuous efforts of the Party Committee, government and people. It is also an important premise for the ethnic minority region in the Southeast of Lam Dong to continue to thrive and firmly step on the path of comprehensive and sustainable development.
