Temporarily detained more than 13 tons of chicken feet soaked in chemicals, preparing to be put on the market

On July 14, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police and the Provincial Market Management Department said they were temporarily detaining more than 13 tons of chemically soaked chicken feet, preparing to be put on the market for consumption.

On July 12, Sam Son Ward Police and other forces inspected Thanh Binh cold storage, located at Hoi port, Sam Son ward, Thanh Hoa province.

Authorities discovered Nguyen Thi Dieu Hang, 35 years old, residing in Le Chan ward, Hai Phong city, and other workers were processing frozen chicken feet, using the chemical Interox ST 50 (H2O2) to bleach the chicken feet.

After the chicken feet are pre-processed and soaked in chemicals, they are frozen and then distributed to retailers to sell to consumers as food.

Thanh Hoa province police and market management temporarily seized more than 13 tons of frozen chicken feet as evidence of the case to serve the investigation.

At the same time, the functional forces coordinated with the Thanh Hoa Province Food Safety and Hygiene Department to take samples of chicken feet and chemicals and send them to the National Institute for Food Safety and Hygiene Testing for testing, as a basis for handling.
