New Miss Universe Vietnam 2024: Going through 'storms' to win sweetly

After more than 3 months of launching, Miss Universe Vietnam 2024 officially found the owner of the crown, Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen. The beauty from Nam Dinh had to face "storms" in the past when she was criticized for being involved in a smoking and laughing gas scandal. After that, she had to explain and write a letter of apology to the audience and the contest organizers. Ky Duyen was also involved in a love scandal, but with high determination, in 2024 she had a very brave "transformation" when participating in the beauty contest for the second time and won a sweet victory.

Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen crowned Miss Universe Vietnam 2024:

The new beauty queen, born in 1996, from Nam Dinh, possesses a sharp face and a toned body with a height of 1.76m and measurements of 86-60-94cm. She is currently a familiar face for many brands and fashion shows.

Ky Duyen was crowned Miss Vietnam 2014 at the age of 18. After 10 years of working in the arts, she returned to the beauty pageant and received enthusiastic support from fans. Currently, Ky Duyen has built a solid career for herself by actively participating in the entertainment industry and expanding into the business field.

At the final night, Ky Duyen received the question: “Beauty pageants are essentially just for entertainment. The crowned girl cannot represent the women of an entire country. Do you agree or disagree?”. The beauty answered: “Ky Duyen believes that the beauty of a girl cannot represent the women of an entire country, but her story can inspire everyone. She shared that over the past 10 years, she has always strived to improve herself to be able to represent Vietnam in the international arena. The beauty affirmed that always pursuing ideals is a premise to contribute to the development of the country.”

Through the sub-rounds and the official competition, Ky Duyen always maintained a stable performance and achieved many admirable achievements. She entered the top 5 Best in Swimsuit, top 5 Best in Evening Gown in the semi-final night, top 5 “National Costume Performance” and won the “Most Favorite Contestant” award.

However, in the broadcast episodes of Miss Universe Vietnam 2024, Ky Duyen also faced some criticism. She was judged to have gaps in her knowledge and showed hesitation and anxiety in her presentation in episode 2. She also admitted that she had never read a book, instead preferring to learn through images and sounds.

In episode 3, Ky Duyen continued to be criticized for not smiling much and lacking energy. However, she quickly regained her composure in her presentation about a community project related to mental training for students.

On the semi-final stage, Ky Duyen was praised for her hot, balanced body and attractive performance skills.

Sharing about her decision to compete in Miss Universe Vietnam 2024, Ky Duyen said: “Something keeps lingering in my mind, urging me to do it. And at this moment, that feeling suddenly returned and I think I can’t let it pass by again. Exactly 10 years later, I decided to return with the goal of winning a ticket to represent Vietnamese beauty in the international Miss Universe arena.”

She is also known as the coach of The Look Vietnam 2017, Vietnam Supermodel 2018, The Face Vietnam season 4.

Ky Duyen started learning French in grade 4. She was also a student in a French specialized class while studying at Tran Dang Ninh Secondary School and then at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Nam Dinh.

In 2014, she passed the entrance exam to the Foreign Trade University with a score of 23 in block D3 (taking 3 subjects: math, literature and French). However, after being crowned Miss Vietnam 2014, Ky Duyen did not continue her regular studies in the Foreign Economics major. She switched to the work-study program but did not complete it.

In 2016, Ky Duyen received an invitation to represent Vietnam in the Miss Earth contest but declined. Since the beginning of 2017, Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen's fashion modeling career has developed rapidly and has been recognized by the audience.

Ky Duyen currently owns a dream fortune including a luxury apartment, billion-dollar cars, a series of expensive branded goods... In 2015, Ky Duyen bought herself a car worth about 10 billion VND. A year later, she continued to buy a car worth more than 3 billion VND for convenient transportation.

Although she does not come from a professional model background, with her sharp and confident demeanor, many domestic designers trust her with the vedette position.

Ky Duyen has increasingly won the hearts of the audience after participating in the program "Stars join the army" in early 2020.

Ky Duyen's parents run a wedding dress business and her brother is an IT engineer.

Although comfortable sharing about her artistic and daily activities, Ky Duyen is quite secretive about her love life. In a recent post with VietNamNet, Ky Duyen confided: "I just want to share that I am happy with my love life, but I would like to keep it to myself."

Miss Ky Duyen caused disagreement between the 1st runner-up of Miss Universe 2023 and idol Huong Giang . With a presentation that somewhat "overshadowed" her teammates, Miss Ky Duyen created disagreement among the members of the jury in episode 4 of Miss Universe Vietnam 2024.
