On September 28, Nguyen Du Secondary School, Da Lat City ( Lam Dong ) organized a non-uniform booth to serve students in difficult circumstances so that they can freely "shop" for uniforms and school supplies.
Students enjoy "shopping" at the free booth
Ms. Bui Thi Lan, Vice Principal and Head of the Red Cross Association of Nguyen Du Secondary School, said that for many years the school has had a tradition of mutual love, with many programs and activities to help students in difficult circumstances. Among them, the model of a non-uniform booth serving students with the motto "Let those who need it take just enough - Those who have enough in their cupboards, share here" is very effective.
Students choose school supplies at the booth
Since the beginning of the school year, the school's Red Cross Association has called on parents and teachers to contribute to the charity fund; students of all classes who have new and old clothes, notebooks, and unused school supplies should bring them to support the free stall. This school year, the Red Cross Association has received the attention, support, and companionship of parents, sponsors, and students of the whole school, so the free stall is very rich and has an abundant source of goods.
Freely choose pens and notebooks
More specifically, this year's free booth was held on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival in the new school that was put into use at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, so the atmosphere was more joyful and bustling. Not only students came to the free booth, but also many parents came to choose clothes for their children. During the day, dozens of uniforms, sweaters; hundreds of notebooks and school supplies were given to students in difficult circumstances.
Parents and students choose clothes
Ms. Bui Thi Lan added that to have more funds to organize the free stalls, on the occasion of the recent Lunar New Year, the school organized a food stall. Specifically, students in grades 7 and 9 organized 30 stalls selling snacks (ensuring hygiene), prepared by the students themselves, selling for 1,000-10,000 VND, but many students donated more. The result was more than 35 million VND, this amount of money was used to support the free stalls and give scholarships to poor students in difficult circumstances.
The new classroom block will be put into use from the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year.
In the 2023-2024 school year, Nguyen Du Secondary School (Da Lat) has more than 2,900 students, with 62 classes, of which grade 6 has 19 classes with 936 students. This is the largest secondary school in Lam Dong province and the whole South.
