The English selection section consists of 50 objective multiple choice questions designed to serve the admission of foreign language training programs.
Director of the Hanoi National University Examination Center Nguyen Tien Thao said: The HSA exam questions are about 75% multiple choice questions with 4 options. The new point in the structure of the 2025 competency assessment exam will be to add cluster questions in all sections and exam topics.
Cluster questions include general questions and specific questions that develop and assess candidates' abilities from low to high levels. Cluster questions will exploit rich data sources, assess students' thinking in each field and across fields.
In particular, from 2025, in addition to the Science exam, this year the structure of the competency assessment exam will include an English exam so that candidates registering for foreign language-related majors can choose to serve the admission process.
The high school student assessment test is designed to assess the core competencies required of high school students according to the general education program and in accordance with standards and competency assessment trends in the world.
Through the knowledge content of the general education program, the test assesses 3 main groups of competencies that students achieve after completing high school.
The difficulty of the questions in the exam increases from level 1 to level 3 and is divided according to the ratio: 20% level 1, 60% level 2, 20% level 3.
"The format, questions, and exam questions have been adjusted to match the 2018 General Education Program, with changes in the quality of the Student Competency Assessment exam questions," said Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Testing Center.
The test scores are automatically graded by the Competency Assessment software. The test results are displayed on the computer screen after the candidate finishes the test or after the prescribed test time has expired.
Each correct answer is worth 1 point, incorrect answers or no answers are not counted (test questions are not counted). The test score is the sum of the three parts, with each part worth a maximum of 50 points.
