Additional maternity benefits for voluntary social insurance participants from July 1, 2025

(QNO) - According to new regulations in the Law on Social Insurance 2024, effective on July 1, 2025, female workers participating in voluntary social insurance will enjoy maternity benefits.

The current Law on Social Insurance (SI) 2014 stipulates that voluntary SI only enjoys two regimes: retirement and death. However, at Point a, Article 3, the Law on Social Insurance 2024 has added maternity regime for voluntary SI participants.

According to the provisions of Articles 94 and 95 - Social Insurance Law 2024, employees participating in voluntary social insurance, including female employees giving birth and male employees whose wives give birth, if meeting the conditions (paying social insurance for 6 months or more within 12 months before giving birth), will receive a subsidy of 2 million VND for each child born and each fetus 22 weeks or older that dies in the uterus or dies during labor.

Thus, when the Social Insurance Law 2024 takes effect, there will be 4 social insurance regimes that voluntary social insurance participants will enjoy, including: maternity allowance, retirement, death, and occupational accident insurance. These are new points in the Social Insurance Law 2024, helping to improve the rights of participants to encourage people to participate in voluntary social insurance.
