Fashion at billionaire Jeff Bezos' 'huge' wedding: Ivanka Trump among worst dressed

The wedding of Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos and journalist Lauren Sánchez is taking place in Venice, Italy, despite protests from locals concerned about overtourism.

Despite facing much criticism, the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, dubbed the "event of the century," still attracted an all-star A-list guest list and appearances that captivated the public, the Independent reported.

A series of artists such as Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Barry Diller, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Kylie, Kendall and Kris Jenner, Tom Brady, Wendi Deng, Tommy Hilfiger, Dee Ocleppo, Leonardo DiCaprio, Stacey Bendet, Karlie Kloss, Ivanka Trump... were spotted leisurely walking on the streets, or boarding the classic wooden boat Riva.

The power couple officially became husband and wife on June 27, after an impressive debut: landing by helicopter at the luxury Aman Venice hotel, after a vacation on the $500 million superyacht Koru along the Croatian coast.

The three-day event attracted attention not only because of its lavish scale, but also because of the " fashion party" from the stars. Some guests chose extremely sophisticated outfits, in harmony with the ancient setting of Venice. Meanwhile, a few names made fashionistas exclaim: "Why did you choose that outfit?"

When asked about Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos' wedding becoming a real fashion show, designer Calvin Klein told Women's Wear Daily : "I think, when you reach the top and have everything, there are only a few weddings in your life. Venice is a great place to have a wedding, to celebrate with people you love.

This is life at its finest. And we get to see them celebrate it in their own way. It's really wonderful."

"It's a pity that the wedding is associated with negative public opinion, but that's normal."

"The protesters are speaking out for their own goals. I believe Jeff Bezos is generous to Venice and to the world, " he said.

For the bride's wedding dress, Lauren Sánchez chose a figure-hugging design with lace sleeves from Dolce & Gabbana. On Instagram, she described it as not just a wedding dress, but "a poem in fabric."

Although Venice is the center of global attention, the effect of the billionaire wedding has not really spread to shopping activities.

An employee at the Noventa di Piave Designer Outlet - which houses luxury brands such as Prada, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta - said: "We have to admit that we have not recorded any direct impact on revenue from Jeff Bezos' wedding. However, we are still happy for the couple and for the opportunity this event brings to promote the image of the city of Venice."
