From Mr. Thanh's pioneering work, a clean durian production cooperative in Dak Sak was established, achieving VietGAP certification.

Planning

Mr. Thanh has an agricultural production area of over 10 hectares. On that area, he planned it into 3 areas, the main economic development area includes the farm area serving pig and chicken farming at the top, then planting coffee and durian trees and the lowest area at the end of the field close to the stream is a pond system for both raising fish and creating landscape.

Currently, his family maintains 6 small farms raising chickens, ducks and pigs. On average, each batch, the family raises about 40,000 chickens, 30,000 ducks and 2,000 pigs. Mr. Thanh said that livestock farming has developed stably, and there have been no major epidemics. To achieve this, his experience is to strictly follow the rules on reputable breeding sources and strict disinfection.

Specifically, right from the gate to the farm, he designed two separate paths leading to two livestock and poultry farms far apart, each with its own disinfection pits.

Mr. Thanh shared that in addition to standard breeds and full vaccines, the food source must have a clear origin, the drinking water for livestock must always be clean, and vitamins must be regularly supplemented to increase resistance. Thanks to a combination of many measures, for decades, his family's livestock has overcome "disease storms" and brought in a stable source of income.

It is noteworthy that his family operates a circular livestock farm with crop cultivation. Livestock waste is collected, processed, composted with biological products to fertilize crops and sold to local people in need.

Sustainable circular economy

Mr. Thanh affirmed that his coffee and durian gardens mostly use compost from livestock waste, a small amount is chemical fertilizer. The soil is always loose and full of nutrients, so the trees grow healthily, with high productivity and agricultural output. In particular, for the pure durian area, over 600 trees, the output in 2025 will reach 20 tons produced according to VietGAP standards, so the selling price will be higher than the general market level. The annual coffee output is about 10 tons/year. The entire cultivated area is watered and fertilized with an advanced irrigation system.

For the pond system, he both raises fish and stores water for irrigation and landscaping. The income from freshwater fish also reaches 100 million VND/year. Mr. Thanh's total income from the garden, pond, and barn economic model reaches 7 billion VND/year.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hau - Vice Chairman of Dak Sak Commune People's Committee, the economic model combining livestock and crop farming of Mr. Thanh's family is a typical model of the commune. In recent years, the locality has also promoted the dissemination of information to households to visit, learn and replicate. The good news is that through the connection and initiative of Mr. Thanh and some households in the surrounding area, the Dak Ha Clean Durian Cooperative Group has recently been established with the participation of 7 households, producing 15 hectares of durian with VietGAP certification.

It is known that, in addition to being good at economics, Mr. Thanh is also a typical example in the patriotic emulation movement, building solidarity at the grassroots level, new rural areas, and creating regular jobs for many local workers.

Dak Sak commune is encouraging and replicating forms of circular economic development and green economy associated with certification, as Mr. Thanh and the Dak Ha Clean Durian Cooperative are applying to improve the quality of agricultural products and link to create large commodity material areas.
