Proactively produce the 2025-2026 Winter-Spring crop effectively

The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province has directed the production of the 2025-2026 Winter-Spring crop. Thereby, it is requested that the People's Committees of communes, wards and related agencies and units focus on implementing many solutions to ensure the success of the crop.

According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in the 2025 Summer-Autumn rice crop, the whole province sowed more than 265,500 hectares, reaching 99.5% of the plan, with an estimated yield of 54.22 quintals/hectare and an output of about 1.43 million tons. The Autumn-Winter and Summer-Autumn crops are also being cared for and harvested with positive results.

Meteorological forecasts show that the ENSO phenomenon will remain neutral in the coming time, and water resources will generally be sufficient for production. Saltwater intrusion in the 2025-2026 dry season is expected to be at the average level of many years and lower than the previous year.

To be proactive, the Department requires localities to closely monitor hydrometeorological developments, focus on taking care of Autumn-Winter rice and Summer-Autumn rice, and at the same time implement the Winter-Spring rice sowing schedule in 3 phases:

Phase 1, from October 10 to 20, 2025, mainly in border mound areas, areas at risk of water shortage for late-season irrigation; Phase 2, from November 8 to 18, 2025, in medium-sized land with dykes, often with high productivity; Phase 3, from December 5 to 20, 2025, for the remaining communes, where dykes are not yet closed.

The Department also recommends using high-quality rice varieties that adapt to climate change such as OM18, OM5451, Dai Thom 8, Jasmine 85, Nang Hoa 9, ST24, etc.

In addition to rice, localities need to focus on vegetable production according to market demand, apply crop rotation measures and reasonable irrigation systems.

For fruit trees and industrial crops, focus on granting growing area codes, expanding safe production, connecting consumption chains, and applying solutions for water storage, water-saving irrigation, and drought and salinity prevention.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment assigned the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Irrigation, and the Agricultural Extension Center to closely coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and wards in training, propaganda, pest monitoring, and implementing solutions to respond to natural disasters.

Communes are responsible for mobilizing farmers to clean their fields, regulate water properly, reinforce dikes, and convert crops in areas with water difficulties.

The Department emphasized that seriously implementing the above measures will help the 2025-2026 Winter-Spring crop production achieve high efficiency, contributing to stabilizing farmers' lives and developing sustainable agriculture in the province./.
