Lower Austria, which borders the capital Vienna, has the largest area and the second largest population in Austria (1.7 million), and has great potential in tourism, renewable energy, high technology, education and training, healthcare, smart urban management, smart agriculture and wine production.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Heinz Boyer, Chairman of the Board of the University of Applied Sciences IMC Krems. IMC Krems has close partnerships with Hue University, Hanoi University, and the University of Commerce in nursing, nursing, tourism and hotel management.
The school has granted full scholarships from the state of Lower Austria worth 6 million Euros to 150 Vietnamese students to study nursing in Austria and is 100% guaranteed to have long-term jobs with high incomes.
At the meeting, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang updated Vietnam's socio -economic development situation, emphasizing the aspiration to rise up with two 100-year goals with the main driving force being science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, and sustainable development.
The Ambassador highly appreciated the many potentials and strengths of the state of Lower Austria in particular and of Austria in general, which are suitable for Vietnam's development cooperation needs; at the same time, he expressed his thanks to the state of Lower Austria and IMC Krems University for trusting and choosing Vietnam as the only partner in the region to grant full scholarships to 150 students studying nursing, opening up a direction for cooperation in highly skilled labor and vocational training with many prospects, especially in nursing, and promptly supplementing the medical human resources that are in great shortage in the context of Austria's rapidly aging population.
The Ambassador also proposed to strengthen local exchanges and cooperation, and explore the possibility of establishing sister-state relations between the state of Lower Austria and provinces and cities in Vietnam.
Prime Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner congratulated Vietnam on its 80th National Day and expressed her impression of Vietnam's impressive comprehensive achievements after four decades of Doi Moi, creating a solid momentum for rapid, strong and sustainable development in the coming decades.
The Prime Minister also expressed his delight at seeing Vietnamese students at IMC Krems adapting and integrating well into life in Austria, with a serious learning spirit, solidarity and discipline, creating trust in the quality of Vietnam's human resources as well as the prospects for long-term labor and vocational training cooperation between the two sides; agreed to support the initiative of the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria in coordination with the Austrian Economic Chamber and the state of Lower Austria to organize a forum on cooperation in skilled labor and vocational training between Vietnam and Austria in the coming time.
Prime Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner said that the state of Lower Austria values trustworthy, practical and effective sisterhood relations and has established a sisterhood network around the world and with Asia; supports the proposal to enhance people-to-people exchanges and local cooperation between the two countries, and suggests early discussion and research on the possibility of establishing a sisterhood relationship with a city/province in Vietnam that has similar strengths and needs such as sustainable tourism and heritage conservation (the state of Lower Austria has the largest number of ancient castles and monasteries), cultural festival exchanges, green and smart urban management, capacity building training in tourism management, hotels, restaurants, and nurse recruitment.
