Fulfill the mission of revolutionary journalism, providing "timely - accurate - transparent" information

On the afternoon of June 19, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province held a meeting to celebrate the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2024) and to present the Lao Cai Provincial Press Award 2024.

Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee presented flowers to congratulate the press and media agencies.

Attending the meeting were comrades: Trinh Xuan Truong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vu Van Cai, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Giang Seo Van, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province; Duong Duc Huy, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of departments, branches, press agencies of the province, resident press agencies in the province and authors, representatives of the group of authors who won the Lao Cai Provincial Press Award in 2024.

On the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, comrade Trinh Xuan Truong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee sent his congratulations and thanks to the news agencies, newspapers, local and central journalists who have always accompanied and contributed to the socio -economic development of Lao Cai province.

With 3 provincial press agencies, 17 central press agencies with representative offices, resident reporters in Lao Cai and more than 200 journalists, reporters, editors, Lao Cai press always excellently completes the task of propaganda, encouragement, motivation, closely following each step of development and innovation of the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Lao Cai province.

In 2023 - 2024, press and media activities in Lao Cai will have a breakthrough change. With the motto "Where the people are, information goes there", Lao Cai focuses on developing official information channels on digital platforms, creating many conveniences for people in accessing and spreading information. Digital transformation in press and media activities in the province has contributed to spreading good values, positive energy, creating consensus and social trust.

In the period of 2020 - 2025, Lao Cai is determined to develop a professional and modern press system; strongly develop information and communication in line with the trend of multimedia technology convergence. That is both a requirement and a task of revolutionary press in its role of leading and orienting society, especially in the context of the 4.0 industrial revolution and the explosion of information and communication technology as today. That also requires revolutionary press and the team of journalists and journalists of the province to constantly innovate, create, and strive to further promote the role and position of the press in informing, propagating, and orienting public opinion in the new situation; demonstrating the role and responsibility of the press and media in maintaining information sovereignty in cyberspace, building a healthy and clean information environment.

In order for the press and information to contribute to changing people's lives in a meaningful way, bringing better things to life, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes and requests the team of journalists to continue to promote the achievements they have made, continue to accompany and strive to fulfill the mission of being a bridge between the Party Committee, the Provincial Government and the People, creating consensus for the entire Party Committee, the Government, the army and the people of all ethnic groups in Lao Cai to unite and strive to compete to build Lao Cai province into a bright spot in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the border area of ​​the Fatherland. Lao Cai press and media must continuously innovate, create, adapt, and constantly grow to fulfill the mission of revolutionary journalism with the goal of providing "timely - accurate - transparent" information.

Recognizing the contributions of the team of journalists in Lao Cai province, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee decided to award Certificates of Merit to 1 collective and 15 individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Press accompanies in building Lao Cai to become a developed province of the Northern Midlands and Mountains" in 2023 - 2024 (photo below).

At the meeting, representatives of central and local news agencies and press expressed their thanks for Lao Cai province's attention, affirmed that they will continue to accompany the province's development, and proposed a number of contents and solutions to strengthen coordination and information provision between agencies and localities in the province and press agencies.

On this occasion, Lao Cai province organized the awarding ceremony of Lao Cai Provincial Press Award 2024.

The Lao Cai Provincial Press Awards 2024 has 200 works in the categories of print, photo, radio, television and electronic newspapers. According to the Organizing Committee's assessment, the topics and genres of works participating this year are more diverse, including works fighting against negativity and praising good people and good deeds in many fields. The works are invested in both content and form, demonstrating the author's dedication.

As a result, the Provincial People's Committee decided to recognize and award 4 A prizes, 10 B prizes, 14 C prizes, and 19 Encouragement prizes to authors and groups of authors with outstanding journalistic works in 2024.
