On social networks, there is a stir about parents not agreeing to pay for labor, so the school forced students to work, cleaning the restroom until 7 p.m., locking the door from the inside, not allowing them to go home in the rainy weather.

According to Dan Tri reporter's investigation, the incident as reported on social networks is said to have occurred at Truong Son Secondary School, Truong Son commune, Nong Cong district, Thanh Hoa province.

On the morning of October 17, Ms. Truong Thi Yen, Principal of Truong Son Secondary School, said that the image shared on social media was indeed the school gate. However, Ms. Yen affirmed that the information spread on social media was false.

According to Ms. Yen, at around 5:00 p.m. on October 15, after the last class period, students of two classes (7A and 7B) had a cleaning schedule. The main task was to sweep the school yard and clean the two restrooms. At 6:00 p.m., the students finished their work.

"The photo of students standing at the school gate was taken by a parent picking up their child at 5:43 p.m. and sent to the class group. Along with the photo, the parent wrote: "If possible, let the children work earlier." The school and the parents do not know who leaked this photo, causing public misunderstanding," Ms. Yen said.

Ms. Yen said that according to regulations, secondary school students do not have to pay for cleaning. The cleaning schedule at school is not fixed, each day the school assigns 2 classes. Classes without afternoon classes will work from 3 p.m. Classes with afternoon classes will work after the last class of the day.

The principal said that work not only helps students practice physical strength and skills, but is also an opportunity for them to cultivate love, responsibility, creativity, teamwork, and stay away from apathy and laziness.

"Yesterday (October 16), Nong Cong district police came to work with the school. I confirm that the school did not "toughen up" parents by locking up and forcing students to clean the toilets until evening," Ms. Yen said.

Mr. Nguyen Van Viet, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Truong Son Commune, said the information spreading on social networks is false.

"Parents want to pay the school to hire someone to clean instead. However, the Commune People's Committee has asked the school not to collect the money. If they do, they must return it. As secondary school students, parents must let their children participate in tasks such as cleaning the classroom, decorating the classroom, sweeping the school yard...", Mr. Viet said.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Son, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Nong Cong district, said that the images and information spread on social networking sites are not true, affecting the reputation of the education sector.

"I hope the authorities will soon clarify who is spreading false and misleading information," said Mr. Son.
