On social media, information spread that a hair salon known to receive donated hair for cancer patients had "intercepted" donated hair, receiving more than 700 sets of hair but only giving 50 sets of hair to cancer patients at Bac Ninh General Hospital.

On the afternoon of June 13, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Ba Tinh - Deputy Director of the Bright Tomorrow Fund, the unit directly implementing the program "Hair for Cancer Patients" - said that the information spreading on social networks is incorrect.

"The Hair for Cancer Patients program held at Bac Ninh General Hospital donated 50 sets of hair to cancer patients. These are the hair sets of the Bright Tomorrow Fund, not the hair of the 1900 hair salon, and I am the fund representative who directly donated them.

The program also received hair donations from 703 people in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces. This hair is still in the two hospitals and will be sent directly to the Bright Tomorrow Fund.

"The information that hair salon 1900 directly came to collect and bring donated hair back to sell is incorrect," Mr. Tinh affirmed.

Mr. Tinh added that the hair donated by the people will be transferred to a company specializing in wig production. The fund has cooperated with professional hair companies to create complete wigs, instead of transferring them to salons.

The hairdressers will return the finished hair to the foundation and the foundation will continue to donate it to cancer patients.

These hair sets will also be returned to be donated to cancer patients in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, where the program has just organized the donation and launched the program for people to participate. This is a program that lasts for many years, not just one or two periods.

Many people believe that 1900 hair salon is the unit that receives donated hair and creates wigs to give to patients. A representative of the Bright Tomorrow Fund confirmed that 1900 salon is currently an official partner of the fund and has been accompanying the fund since the first days of the program's operation.

1,400 hairpieces have been sent to cancer patients.

According to Mr. Tinh, the hair donation program for cancer patients will be implemented by the Bright Tomorrow Fund from September 2022.

Up to now, the fund has given 1,400 hairs to cancer patients at hospitals such as K Hospital, Hanoi Oncology Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital and some cancer patients in provinces and cities such as Nghe An, Hue, Thanh Hoa, Tuyen Quang,.. and most recently in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang.
