Senator JD Vance accepts nomination as Trump's "vice president"

According to USA Today, at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ohio Senator JD Vance officially accepted the nomination to be Donald Trump's running mate in the 2024 US presidential election.

Speaking at the Republican National Convention, Mr. Vance announced: “I officially accept your nomination for the position of Vice President of the United States.” Besides trade, foreign policy and drugs, Mr. Vance spent much of his speech talking about his own experience as a former Marine.

Previously, on July 15, Mr. Donald Trump announced his decision to choose young Senator JD Vance as his vice president in the US presidential election, even though Mr. Vance is only 39 years old, a first-term senator (for 2 years) and there are many other Republicans with more experience. Mr. Trump's decision is said to be looking towards the future of the political movement he initiated, which is "America first" and "make America great again".

Senator JD Vance, whose full name is James David Vance, graduated from Ohio University, Yale Law School and served in the US Marine Corps in Iraq. He was elected to the Ohio Senate in 2022 and began his term in January 2023.
